Who are some cool characters that are not as popular as the main guys? What are their powers and why do you like them?

Thane Ector. He is from a race of beings that are similar to the Eternals. Thet're giant germs in their true forms but all the same, Thane Ector was pretty cool.

Hercules
Wonderman.

Firestorm. Having the ability to transmute all matter and energy is both f@ing awesome and terrifying.

Batman.

Dr Polaris, Parasite, Mirror Master, Monarch( Techinically his visual design, But the character himself is a meh), Eradicator, Sandy/Sand

Dark Nebula

He is the merger of a human astronaut Mark Medula who unknowingly is decended from witches and an alien warlord Cerellus from the planet Callei who's people are powerful psionics. Cerellus had attacked and telepathically taken over an earth space station in prep for attacking earth. Mark was on a ship docking with it and the only one immune to his TP. They fought and killed each other and a powerful entity returned them to life in sharing Mark's body.

I like the character because it is both super powerful and volatile. Initially Mark and Cerelus are constantly fighting for control of their new form.

He has a merger of the power inherent in both having Cerellus TP and TK and the darkfire of magic from Mark's line. He is also a superhero who isnt your traditional good guy. He swears and curses, and looses his temper.

Argus

is a street level guy from DC's Flash series who got his powers in the Bloodlines crossover. He has slightly enhanced stats (2 or 3 times normal) a healing factor a little below Wolverines (it took him a week or so to regrow gouged out eyes). Can merge with shadows to be invisible in low light. His hax power is his sight, he basically sees the entire electromagnetic spectrum, infra fes, ultraviolet, xray, radio waves, he sees the truth behind things, sees patterns and codes in things, can see things about to happen, see the weakness in things.

He is cool because he's a former soldier who is an undercover FBI agent in the Mafia.

Justice (Marvel New Universe)

John Tenson is basically punisher with powers. He can blast energy blasts from his right hand (or form an energy sword or knife) and shields from his left (with extreme concentration he could blast from the left so presumably shield from the right). He could also see people's Auras and track from them and internalise his energy to heal quicker. He had an ability to teleport that he rarely used (it really wasn't something he had worked on, more a reflex thing to get his fat out of the proverbial fire)

I liked his original origin where he was from another realm, more of a fantasy like character but Marvel did away with it. In extremes they seriously amped his powers to the pointnhe healed from the dead and made his full on esper able to know everything about a person instead of knowing their motivations and intent from their aura.
