Wes Ball (Maze Runner film trilogy) is taking over directing duties.
Patient_Leech
Cool.

Robtard
Awesome. I've a huge Planet of the Apes fan going back to the original film, the last three films were great imo.
Looking forward to another reboot or continuation. Though prefer a reboot at this point. Owen Teague's a decent actor and looks kinda chimpish as is, so that'll help.
Arachnid1
Without Reeves, my hype is a lot lower. Especially with Wes Ball directing. Meh.
Robtard
I'm okay with someone else having a shot with a reboot. While Ball does not have a lot under his belt, he may utterly surprise us.
Bashar Teg
the last reboot was okay, but can't we just have the original story retold? 3 humans stranded in the future, run by apes who hate them. it can still be done without having to repeat that first reboot, that homage-turned-parody hollywood abortion party that all-but screamed at the audience "thanks for your money, stupid gullible assh0le. see you again next time when you fall for this shit again"
Khazra Reborn
Is this another reboot, or are they continuing the Reeves trilogy?

I'd be surprised if he didn't stay on at least as a producer. Did they mention who is writing yet? I also suspect he might get involved with writing...
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes actually turned into one of my all time favorite films. It's amazing, and a part of a great Trilogy.

The damn dirty apes line is more fun, but I remember the reveal blew my mind as a kid. Charlton Heston nailed that shit!

Also Bortus from The Orville will be in the movie, Going by that info.
Darth Thor
Yeah glad they are continuing in the same timeline. Not a total reboot like the Tim Burton one.

Revenge of the Curse of the Return of the Planet of the Apes Part 2.5: The almost threequal.

Tis but a teaser, but looks good.
What's with this trend of showing the climax of the trailer at the beginning?
Patient_Leech
Bump..

Perhaps a little concerning...
Early screening response is not good.

Personally I actually kind of like the Maze Runner movies. I guess they're kind of guilty pleasures.
Robtard
Opens today, looking forward to this. Loved the first three.
Patient_Leech
Same, I liked the others a lot.
I haven't seen but maybe the first two or three originals, though.
I look forward to this. Hopefully I can get out to see it in the next week or two before Furiosa.

Yeah, I'm glad to see because I like these movies.
I was going to be pretty surprised if it got bad reviews because Wes Ball's Maze Runner movies are good.
Robtard
I enjoyed it overall, but it's the weakest of the series.

Weaker than the last one?
Kazenji
I've heard its the best one since Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for these newer movies
but you know, everyone's opinion is different.
riv6672
^^^Yeah, my opinion is it was ****ing awesome.
I watched it twice.
Patient_Leech
I still consider Dawn to be the best and probably one of the great movies of the last 25 to 50 years. It's great.
This ranking seems to be on my side...

Dawn was awesome. War a big let down Imho.
So yeah also hoping this one brings the excitement back.

I really liked parts 1-3, especially 1-2.
This one was good, but it's a different animal and not necessarily a better one.
riv6672
Different animal. I see what you did there.

Patient_Leech
god-DAMN-it, that Rob is so clever!!
Khazra Reborn
The CGI on the apes was really good, it shows that 2024 CGI actually has the potential to be better than 2005 cgi for once. Other than that the movie stunk, stick with the first trilogy, it completed the apes story very well, leading to the 1960s original. This just feels like an obvious cash grab.
riv6672
^^^Well, I agree on the CGI part.

By First trilogy you mean from the 70s films or the Caesar series minus this one ?
Robtard
He means Rise, Dawn and War.

Ah okay. In that case not sure they did blend that well to the original.
War was kinda just a stand alone end to Caesars story. But that trilogy kept building up to a war we never saw.

^^^I love his buttery smooth pectoral muscles and Canadian dime sized nips.
Robtard
We thought it was going to be a war between man and ape. The war ended up being humans obliterating themselves like retards. There was literally enough land and resources in the new world that humans and apes never had to interact. That was before the virus mutated further.
War ended with a prelude to the next story, the apes setting to build a society free of intelligent human interference.

I guess. The Caesar trilogy is basically the story of how we got to the talking ape Earth of the original. IMO, those movies told that story well, with a definitive beginning and end. At this point, I think we get the picture, and this movie just felt like an overly long filler story without much of a reason for existing, other than money.
Darth Thor
Ceasar's story beginning with Rise was good to see how it all began.
Dawn really showed the Apes expanding and growing with their own moral conflicts, and was just a Great film.
With War there was no war. I won't get over that. It's only purpose was to kill off Caesar SPOILER ALERT.
Patient_Leech
War was good, too. There were some battle-like sequences. I seem to recall it opened with a sort of jungle battle.
Woody Harrelson added a lot to the film, too.
Is it as good as Dawn? Nah (not much is), but it's good.
I really want to see this, but it will have to wait because I'm busy this weekend and Furiosa opens next week. That takes priority!

Patient_Leech
Watched this.
It was good. It had a lot to accomplish having to sort of start from scratch and re-establish the world at this point. So considering that I think it did pretty well. I think I would still rank it just below all the others in the previous trilogy, though.
1. DAWN
2. WAR
3. RISE
4. KINGDOM
I was a little surprised that so many humans could talk. I guess there's probably more films planned to explain how they disappear or become more rare, perhaps?
BruceSkywalker
Finally watched
imo its bout 30 minutes too long
story wise as i've never watched these films other than the ones from the 60s this coulda bee written better
but i did like it but i feel it coulda been better
