I live in the US but most of my favorite bands/artists hail from across the pond. My favorite band is Oasis, those Gallagers are quite talented, more so Noel. I also like Richard Ashcroft, Robbie Williams, the dandy warols, and my favorite American bands are Third Eye Blind and Everclear.

My favourite song at the moment is Lady (hear me tonight) by Modjo

Dim
I don't know...I'll listen to anything.

King Jedi
My top three bands:

1. Stone Roses
2. Oasis
3. The Verve

Gundark
Sting and old Police are my absolute favorites. I'm kind of embarrassed to put my other likes on here, but go ahead and laugh. I like Celtic and Swing music. Hate country and rap. I listen to anything from Steely Dan and old Van Halen to Yanni. I also like a lot of 80s bands you dont hear from anymore, The Cars, DuranDuran, Big Country, Tears for Fears. Sometimes I go heavy like old Whitesnake or move into some stuff by STP or Toad the Wet Sprocket. I love Rush, Fleetwood Mac and Heart. Quite the mix, you see. cool cool cool

UnknownBountyHunter

Jedimaster3838
Good call EJ. I like the Verve too, but Richard Ashcroft(their lead singer) has a new album is very good.

theEviljedi
Emenim
Kid Rock
Baha Men
Madonna
Third Eye Blind
Lenny Kravitz
Etc...

Just to let you know I HATE BOY BANDS LIKE NSYNC.

Xizor
Did anyone else hear EvilJedi say he loved boy bands like NSYNC?

Xizor
I like classic rock and raggae. My all time favorites are Bob Marley and Dave Mathews Band.

theEviljedi
Why did you say that Xiz?

Xizor
Because it was funny. Loosen up EJ, you've been getting me mad recently for a few reasons. You try to be goofy and funny and often come off sounding vulgar and childish. I notice this and respond by teasing you or mocking your humor like I did above, and you play the victem and act like "why is he picking on me." A good example of this is in the role playing forum where you and DD were vulgar and dumb, talking about sex, hookers liquer, smoking and other more obscene things. I responded by writing a hilarious satirical story in which Xizor the SW's character ends up killing the conspiritorial EJ and DD. You reacted by not getting the humor, becoming defensive and eventual saying that I was wrong and then closing the site in an attempt to make yourself seem more mature. My story was great(I suggest all of you read it in role playing under 7,8,9)I'd appreciate it in the future EJ That if you wish to start such games be preparred to finish them.

theEviljedi
I know it was funny.I was just responing to it sarcatically.Did you read what I said about that topic afterward Xiz?I said that role playing can go in any directionI agree with you that the sex things shouldn't be allowed in role playing, therefore I will make a note about that on the forum.I got the humor it was just that you said you killed me after I already killed you.So I had to bring it up that's all.I actually thought it was very fuuny.I never said you were wrong.I just closed it so you two wouldn't get into any more arguments.Part of my forum is to continue the story forever never ending it.I'm sorry if you don't like my roles but that is the way it is.

Ratcat
Very eloquently put Xiz, but back on topic I'm quite surprised by some and totally unsurprised by others.

Dim,

You must have SOME favorites. I too will pretty much listen to anything from Heavy Rock to Classical, R&B to Punk and most in between but like most other things have my favorites.

Actually I did miss off one of my all time favorites and that's Meatloaf. He's brilliant. I saw him live at Wembley Arena last year and it was the best concert I have ever been to.

King Jedi
Ratcat who were you suprised by? I wasn't really suprised by any of them. For instance I knew that I wouldn't like anyone on EJ's list before he even posted it. We don't agree on anything.

theEviljedi
You don't even like Madonna?

King Jedi
Not really. I've never liked her.

Xizor
RatCat, can I take it that by your comment you strolled over and read my story in the role playing forum or did you just like my post? How many of you like Dave and Bob? I bet ya Dim is a fan of all hose Lilith Fair ladies.wink

Ratcat
Just what you wrote above, but I will check out you RPG posting.

UnknownBountyHunter
Who is Dave and Bob?

Gundark
No, no, no, it's Bob and DOUG !!! Bob & Doug McKenzie of the GREAT WHITE NORTH !!! Coo-coo-coo-coo coo coo coo !!!
Take off to the great white north, you hoseheads!!! smile

Xizor
If you read my earlier post UBH, I meant Dave Mathews and Bob Marley, my 2 favorite singers. I may be only 21, but all you old guys should have heard of them. You foreigners might not have heard Dave's great music, but I thought the whole world knew raggae singer Bob Marley. So who likes 'em? EJ's heard of them at least, right EJ? I know English guys like Oasis and Elton John, so you brits should have heard of Bob and Dave!

theEviljedi
I also like Bare Naked Ladies,Creed,Rage Agaist the Machine, and Sugar Ray.Daft, yeah I heard them.I only like Marley. And I hate Elton John music(Besides his Lion King song)Sorry Britssmile

Xizor
EJ, if you're gonna like any Elton song pick rocket man, it's better then "the Lion King Song"smile Have you listened to Dave Mathews?

UnknownBountyHunter
Elton John is a good singer (Besides his same-sex tendencies), but being an old European, I have grown to like his songs.

Xizor
Not that there's anything wrong with that....

Gundark
I'm not a giant Elton fan, but I do like a fair bit of his music. My favorite is Madman across the water.

Jedimaster3838
I have never really liked Elton John, but then again I grew up in America. All I can say is that I agree with the Gallagers when they say "Oasis is the best band in the world" There songs Live Forever and The Masterplan are my favorites.

theEviljedi
My sister has a Dave Matthews CD.I just don't really like his music.

Xizor
must be because you are not a TOWER OF POWER!!!!!!

son of rage
Metal. Most forms of heavy metal

UnknownBountyHunter
Metal doesn't make music, silly.

Xizor
Only those who sing real good like me do: & quot;Lalalallalalalallalallalalallalalalalalalalal
lalalalalalalalala!!!!!!!"

Gundark
Hey, TOWER OF POWER, I didn't know you knew the smurf's song by heart. Wow smokin' g

theEviljedi
Hey,I am almost 6'1" and still growing. My dad is 6'8" you know.

Gundark
EJ, your dad is 6'8" ???? Wow. I assume he played awesome basketball, or still does. What's the story ? Also, note on topic, I really like Pink Floyd too, but none of you UK chaps mentioned them. Or am I showing my age again ? rolling on floor laughing

theEviljedi
Actually my dad loved playing football, although he did play basketball too.He stoped in High School when his knee was injured. He had to get his left knee cap completely taken out.He still has a scar after all these years. So as you would guess he can't run to well.

Darth Daft
Hey PINK FLOYD are cool! Shame they haven't released any new stuff for ages. I loved Shine on you Crazy Diamond.

Gundark
Sorry to hear about your dad's knee out of commission, EJ. My fiance has a torn ACL in his knee that' knocked him out of a lot of high impact sports.

DD,
I love PF "Comfortably Numb" and "Us and Them"

Jedimaster3838
I know what its like to get sports injuries. Last May I was playing baseball and completly messed up my right ankle. It popped right out of the skin and my tendon slid from the back to the front of my ankle. I had surgery a few weeks later and have a scar that will stick around. I still have physical therapy and have trouble walking on it still. It sucks, the Doc told me it will take one year to heal all the way, and will be sore after activities possibly for the rest of my life. It really sucks.

Ratcat
Kinda makes a twisted ankle look a little lame doesn't it.

King Jedi
JM3838 if you like Oasis then you should listen to the Stone Roses. Liam Gallagher decided he wanted to be in a band after seeing them. You can download some of there songs on a few of there sites.

Ratcat
Hell yes! Now there's a role model, Liam Gallagher. The man is a J E R K JERK!

King Jedi
He's supposed to be. He's a Rock and Roll Star. Ratcat your showing your age.smile

Ratcat
No, not showing my age. The guy is a complete coke head, and I don't mean the fizzy kind!!!smile But he doesn't even have the decency to hide it, he actually flaunts the fact that he's smacked up or drunk most of the time.

I admit some of their stuff is OK, mostly their earlier tracks but there last few releases were crud and when was the last time the released anything of note?

He's no Rock and Roll star or even a rock star. Oasis have absolutely no versitilty, no wonder Robbie thinks he's a w@%ker.

You want Rock, try Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Meatloaf. They're Rock, OK ML hasn't done much for a couple of years.

Sorry KJ, I'm not getting down on you, I just can't stand Oasis or those idiot brothers.

Jedimaster3838
Sure they are both jerks, but who cares? I don't there music is awsome. I can't wait for their live album coming out the 21st. And KJ, I downloaded some Stone Roses from Napster and they are very good, good call on that one. Thanks

Ratcat
As long as we agree on the Jerks thing then I'll wait 'til the 21st to apply further comment.

Besides I'm more and R&B kinda person.

King Jedi
Ratcat I know what you are saying but it's a generation thing. A lot of people probably thought Aerosmith and Meatloaf were jerks when they started. I was 14 when Oasis came along. Up until then the only music I'd heard in the British charts were Kylie and Jason and terrible dance music. Then these guys come along playing great music and behaving badly. For a fourteen year old that's great. They got me into serious music and that's why I'll always like them. In ten years I'll be saying that the new bands are terrible because their not like Oasis.

Ratcat
I don't know about the age thing so much. I guess the three bands I mentioned would definately be considered long stayers in the music biz but I just can't see Oasis knocking out hits songs 10, 15 or even 20 years from now.

I appreciate what your saying, but reaching 30 doesn't automatically exclude you from enjoying new music and bands.

Eminem, Mary Mary, Kandi, Destiny's Child, Wyclef, Robbie, Louise, Sonique, Anastasia, Spiller, Modjo, TLC, Pink.

In there is a selection of styles and every single one of them know who to treat fans. OK, maybe Eminem can be a bit suspect, but he's open and tell it like he see's it.

Please don't tar me with the "Old Fogey" brush just yet. I like my music to be either something I can turn up loud and break my voice sing to or somethng I can dance to or even better a combination of the both!

That said, when Oasis came along I really liked their first few releaes, it's not so much their music as there attitude to life and the fans that bigs me abiout them.

Now please excuse me, I parked my zimmer frame around here somewhere.

theEviljedi
You like Emenim RC?I never would have guessed it.I also like The Offspring and Nelly.

Ratcat
Yeah it's weird, when I first heard Eminem I thought oh know another crappy @#%$ rapper, but his stuff has just grown on me so much.

I think "The Way I Am" is great, just cos it's true about the way the fans don't let stars live their lives. I think we're probably about 4-5 weeks behind on his releases compared to the US though.

Did anyone ever see the classic one with Cher where some report catches her on video tape riding her big motorbike?
She get's off the bike and starts screaming at him about invading her privacy and what a paracite he is." As she walkes away he's like, "Man I couldn't have paid for that, thank you!" cos he knows he'll be able to sell it."

Sorry, I digrss.

theEviljedi
I also like Blink 182.

Jedimaster3838
Good call EJ. Blink 182 is a good band, I love their videos. They don't take themselves seriously and thats pretty cool for rock stars. And RC I kinda like Eminem too. His song "Stan" is very good, I also like "Marshall Mathers."

King Jedi
It would take me about an hour to tell you what I think of M
and M and you will all dissagree with me anyway so I'm just going
to say "I don't like him".

Ratcat
Not at all KJ, every one has their opinion and taste so there'
s no way I would hit on personal taste if you don't like something.
That wasn't my intension above, it just comments on the people
themselves.

King Jedi
I didn't think you would do that. I think we have our wires crossed.
But I just can't stand Eminem. Funniest line this year "
radio won't play my jam". Who exactly won't play his song?
It's everywhere. He creates this "oh I'm so disliked, and
I'm not that bad but everybody hates me because I swear and tell
it like it is" attitude and I just think he is a fake.

Ratcat
Yeah, on that score <img src=
http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/tired.gif
ALT="|I"> think you have a point,
but some of his other stuff like the fans bugging him when he'
s just trying to have a private life arfe true also.

I think that can be hard for any star but some take it to the
extreme on both ends of the scale. Such as I pointed out in my
earlier posts.

theEviljedi
I don't care for his personal life,I just like his music.

Ratcat
He won 3 awards at the MTV European Music Awars tonight. Nest
Album, and best single were two I think they were.

King Jedi
I just hate the way he goes on about how bad his childhood was. So what? Does he live in Ethiopia, Isreal or Bosnia? No, so he shouldn't be complaining all the time.

Ratcat
What's the phrase? "But for the grace of God go I>"

Which is actually pretty hypocritical coming from me.

theEviljedi
Well he did live in a gang populated area KJ.

Ratcat
Yeah, but he's more about how crapy his mother was and stuff like that. I just like the songs, I have no comment on theior content.

Dim
He needs to grow up and get over it...and he grew up in Michigin...in a smallish town type area... So what if he grew up in a crappy area?..alot of people do and they don't make songs about killing their wives. But, I guess whatever will bring in the money... Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the guy, but all of his little antics gets on my nerves... He just does most of it to get attention..and to get rich.

King Jedi
I agree with that. Everything he does is for attention and to make money. Even the way he dresses. He is always wearing the same T-shirt so that he looks poor. But of course he isn't because he's a millionaire. EJ I live in a town with gangs in it, but doesn't everybody?

theEviljedi
Dim you sound like my mother.laughing out loud And KJ,I don't live in a gang populated area. New Orleans is but that's at least 40 minutes away.

Jedimaster3838
Eminem grew up in Detroit. His music is very good, some of the stuff is wrong, but people who take him seriously are what makes him so popular. Your he just wants attention, what musician doesn't? And so what if he wears the same white t-shirt, thats what he likes. At least he's not one these rappers that wear the big gold chains and have more gold teeth than regular. Thats a disgrace. They care more about their look than their music, the same can't be said for Eminem.

King Jedi
Well I hope he enjoys his 15 minutes of fame bacause in 5 years nobody will care and there will be a new millionaire rapper acting poor, acting bad and being completly fake.

Darth Daft
I agree that he makes up all his songs and lines for attention. And the lines in "The way I am" are obviously his attempt to make people feel sorry for him because of all the criticism he gets. I really do like some of his lyrics and songs and he does have some talent, but nevertheless, he is annoying and a bit of a freak if you ask me.

theEviljedi
Don't you hate it when white people pretend they are black?

Jedimaster3838
First off, who says he'll be gone in 5 years? Dr Dre and Snoop Dog are still around and Eminem is better than they are. And he had a terrible childhood, so I kinda feel sorry for him. I don't care how rich one person is, money can't buy happiness. And as far as him acting black, so what? He can act however he wants.

Darth Heinous
My taste in music is always changing. I used to like heavy metal and "gothic" music. I like Enigma, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, Enya, Geri Halliwell and soundtracks. Relaxation music is also cool. My mood always dtermines what type of music I want to hear. When I'm angry I often listen to "dark" music. When I'm upset (very seldom) I listen to "sad" music. When I'm excited I like fast pace music. When I'm cheerful (most of the time) I listen to whatever comes to mind.

King Jedi
In terms of world wide sucess I don't think you can say Snoop or Dr Dre are still around. They only sell records in America where as Eminem sells world wide. But not for much longer. How many times can you whine about your life before people see right through you?

DH- What kind of "dark" and "sad" music? Who by?

Darth Heinous
No one in particular.

Ratcat
Like I said, I just listen to the music. It keeps me awake when i'm driving.

I like Eminem, as I said, but give me TLC, Destinys Child, Kandi, Samatha Mumba, Wyclef or a whole host of other Rap, Garage or R&B over him anyway.

If you can dance to it, I'm there!

Yes! Big, fat, 32 years old parents ARE still allowed to go clubbing, but only as long as they get a babysitter first!!!

Jedimaster3838
I just got the new Oasis CD "Familiar to Millions" its a live show at Wembley Stadium. It might be the best live CD I have ever heard. Its really good. I just hope they can produce one more studio album before they split.

Xizor
Here is my little spoof on Eminems the way I am:

"I am Joseph R. Lieberman, and if I wasn't then why would God say I am? Because I am Joseph R. Lieberman, I like God that's just they way I am..."

EJ, I think you Dad sounds like a Tower of Power, but I could still take him. Hit 'em at knees..laughing out loud

theEviljedi
I'm sure you could.laughing out loud

King Jedi
Oasis have put back a new album for at least six months but they are touring America in January with the Black Crowes. I don't think they will ever split up. In the sixtes if you were asked which band ,The Beatles or The Rolling Stones, would still be together 40 years later everyone would have said the Beatles. I think Oasis will always be there.
JM3838- Should I buy Familiar to Millions on CD or buy the video.

Ratcat
But if Lennon hadn't been shot I think the Beatles would have had major success with a massive reunion tour.

Gundark
"Shine on you crazy diamond..". Oops, sorry, still stuck on Pink Floyd. Um, sorry but I think rap is just shouting into a microphone. Noisy. But its all good and fine if some of you like it. Doesn't make me not like you. Look at the Cantina Band. Think they had any top tens on Tatoonine ? laughing out loud laughing out loud

Xizor
Poor Lennon. Despite there big hits coming 15 years before I was born I enjoy the Beatles. Probably because my parents played it so much around the house when I was little.

King Jedi
But if Leenon was still alive do you think he would be as popular? I watched a documentary about him and the press at the time were giving him a hard time and basically saying he was a loon. Now everyone loves him. I don't think the Beatles would have got back together and if they did I don't think they would be more successfull than they are now.

Gundark
I agree with KJ. A reunion tour by all four beatles would have been nice but I don't think it would have brought back a popularity with their music that would have surpassed their original explosion on the scene.

Jedimaster3838
KJ- I haven't bought the video yet, but the CD is very good. Either would be a good buy. I just hope when they tour they come somewhere near Cincinnati, I would love to see them perform

King Jedi
I've seen them once and they were great. I was also there one famous night in Glasgow when they walked off after four songs because someone hit Bonehead with a bottle.
