Scenario: Kal's ship never makes it to Earth after the destruction of Krypton. Zod and the banished Kryptonians(MoS version) eventually arrive on Earth while tracking down intact Genesis ships. They begin to terraform the planet starting in New York City, The Avengers called up by S.H.I.E.L.D to defend the planet again.
What chance do The Avengers have in a face to face encounter with Zod's crew without the knowledge or use of Kryptonite?

I'm assuming that since the Kryptonians never meet Kal-El, they have no idea that they can fly or use heat vision and stuff. Anyway, just wanted to put that out there.
Avengers get creamed. Unless they start arming all shield agents with those anti-asgardian guns, then maybe they might have a chance.
Didn't he have superman in a kryptonian ship and superman unleashes his heat vision to damage the ship? I think so. So if so that means he knew of it but had no clue how to do it until he got pissed. Zod unleashing his heat vision is one of my favorite parts of the film.
