Because the M-She-U has grown so powerful with the advent of "STRONG WOMEN", they made Valkyrie a lesbian and also she decided she wanted to be "King" Valkyrie as her official title when Thor handed over leadership of New Asgard to her, even though he only meant King as in "ruler" since he didn't want the job and was already King. She even wears a suit for official meetings instead of a dress.

It's kinda silly when in the previous Thor movie, Hela was perfectly fine calling herself queen. And Hela is far more powerful than Valkyrie. So Valkyrie insisting that she be called "king" just ended up looking like useless posturing.
Besides, a woman who's lesbian or bi is still a woman, meaning she would be called "queen". As far as we know, Valkyrie doesn't identify as a trans-man, so asking to be called "king" is just nonsense.
Anyway, Valkyrie loses this fight. She just doesn't have enough feats to show that she can take on Hawkman when Hawkman was trading blows with BA.
