Peter Sellers (right) as Jacques Closeau.

For the record, Steve Martin's version doesn't count.

Words cannot explain just how memorable Closeau is. Especially when he's fighting his valet, Cato Fong.

Case in point:





Steve Martin is funny, but Sellers is the true Closeau.
