Everyone's read or watched an adaptation of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, and know the story by heart.

Miserly Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by the chain-tidden ghost of his former partner who warns him that unless he change his ways, then he will be damned alongside him.

George Scott (otherwise known as General George Patton) is one of the better known actors to portray the miser. The first person to portray Scrooge in cinema was Tom Ricketts in 1908. The most recent incarnation of Scrooge was done by Jim Carrey.

Other notable folks who had potrayed Scrooge (or something of hs character) were Albert Finney (Scrooge), Bill Murrary (Scrooged), Kelsey Grammer, Patrick Stewart, James Earl Jones, Susan Lucci (Ebbie), Vanessa L. Williams (Diva's Christmas Carol), Cicely Tyson (Mrs Scrooge), Fred Flinstone, Scrooge McDuck, even Daffy Duck.

A Christmas Carol has even been done in fanfiction (myself included), with everyone from Magneto to Ryu (of Street Fighter) to portray Scrooge's role (my version had Chun Li for the part)

It was either this or do a respect thread for Jesus Christ. Scrooge won out by a narrow margin. For this, we respect the miser we all love an hate.
