Materalistic and Manipulative

What would you do if you were with someone who was both materalistic and manipulative? What if you married someone like that, what would you do?

Could someone like that make you feel like they are beneath you?

What if you had a friend who was like this, and convinced you to stay away from your other friends b/c they want more control over your life?

Personally, I wouldn't date a colored person to begin with, so I wouldn't have this problem.
