Microsoft Edge vs Google Chrome

Chrome is fast, but its battery intensive, I've been using MS Edge more and more and seems just as fast and doesn't drain the battery.

What do you prefer and why?

you're posting about battery, so i guess you're talking about mobile versions only? never used them, i hate mobile, so i don't even know if there is Edge for Windows Mobile

unless you're talking about laptop, lol

on PC it's imo
1. Chromium (**** Chrome, lol, it's essentially Chromium+garbage+spying)
2. Opera
3. Firefox
4. Edge/Vivaldi

mind you, honestly, all of them are pretty good, Edge is far from IE, now all the 4 main browsers are pretty legitimate. Edge is as fast and overall as comfortable, but has rendering problems, and often interprets the older HTML code pretty badly, it also has problems with web-stored font assets and renders Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, etc. pretty badly sometimes, but that also depends on the screen (just like Office 2013 and 2017 looks like ravaged shit on lots of screens with non-compatible config lol) A LOT

Chromium (which is the same as Google Chrome) offers better rendering most of the time, remains as fast usually, but takes up more RAM which can be a nuisance and sometimes has worse CPU load, which is why Chromium drains more of the laptop's battery, btw; Chromium is also more stable, has way, way better plugins, better interface as far as configuration options go, and other than that, they're honestly the same

so imo Chromium is > Edge, but nowadays it's all pretty minor differences.

All I can say is if you plan on doing any gaming avoid the Google Chrome; it's what I have and I'm almost certain Microsoft is better for that.

I also frequently get the "Error 502 bad gateway" message while browsing the forum. It's very irritating. When it happens, I have to sign-out just to go into certain threads and then sign back in again if I wanna post.

Gaming...? Like, browser-based games? People still play those?

No, I was mainly referring to playing games on Steam. I recently tried to join Steam but it looks like it doesn't work with Chrome.

I don't play browser-based games. Well, except for the fun little dinosaur leaping game you can play by tapping the space bar once or twice (I forget how many times exactly) when you lose internet connection. It's an ok game to pass the time with by trying to beat your high score while waiting to get internet connection restored. I didn't even know it existed until I saw a video on You Tube about it.

You can learn quite a lot from watching You Tube.

Steam? It has it's own launcher. Why would you use Chrome for Steam?

Yes, but you have to download Steam in order to use it, correct? That's where the problem comes in with Chrome... unless perhaps there was just something I was missing. I might try it again later to make sure.

Armorgames has active current posts, last time I felt like playing mini golf or Kingdom Rush.

Edge has a tendency to lock up systems. Memory leak, likely, or some other issues.

I only use it to watch YouTube videos or things I wouldn't want to save tabs on..

I suppose. But looking at it right now, I have no issues with Chrome.

Perhaps Steam's download incompatibilty with Chrome is a very recent development. Maybe you downloaded it a while back when Steam still could've been DL'ed on Chrome.
