There's an important election for governor going on in Virginia (today, iirc) and that subject is gonna end up playing a key role in who wins, assuming the democrats don't rig it of course.

It contradicts the main thrust of the story which is a trans panic. There is no evidence the student is trans, the bathroom rules came into effect *after* the incident, and the students in question were in a consensual relationship that turned violent.
Granted the school shouldn’t have tried to cover it up, for whatever reason, but it’s unfair and disingenuous to drag trans teens into this, who just want to piss in peace.
I will say using past relationships as proof against rape is bad form, the same way they did that trick of digging into a women's sexual history. Rapes can happen in marriages, after all.

Remember that the *vast majority* of rape incidents occur between people who know each other, or who are in pre-existing relationships. Not between perfect strangers. The trans rapist myth is just an extension of this misconception.
