Marvel is apparently considering reuniting the original Avengers for a new movie.
According to Variety, sources have claimed that there have been talks to reunite the original six MCU superheroes, though the studio has yet to commit to pursuing the homecoming.
If it happened, a reunion would see the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, the two Avengers who met their shocking end in Avengers: Endgame, as well as Chris Evans as Captain America.
Many would undoubtedly be delighted to see the trio's return, teaming up once again with Thor, Hulk and Hawkeye, though they will have to wait and see if getting the old gang back together is on the cards.
Since Endgame, Chris Hemsworth has starred in Thor: Love and Thunder, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has featured in his own Disney+ series, and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk has made appearances in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Meanwhile, Sam Wilson has taken over the mantle of Captain America.
In other Marvel news, MCU fans have gone wild on social media speculating that the X-Men will be making a surprise appearance in the upcoming blockbuster The Marvels, based on a new 15-second teaser trailer for the film.
The Marvels will see the return of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, who discovered her mutant powers in Disney+ series Ms Marvel.
I wouldn't be surprised. They're desperate for something that people will like. And now that James Gunn is gone I don't see myself having didley-shit worth of interest in anything else they do.

Or they can sell the IP once great now in a state like the mood of one's child they gave up custody to their chain smoking, alcoholic aunt/uncle. The comics don't sell like they used to and MCU is just DCU (Disney Channel Universe) the way this crap gets written anymore and some are starting to know better than seeing what's becoming the same movie under the mouse house over & over.
Because Marvel has introduced a multiverse there has been talks that DC characters like X-men will make an appearance. If you can recall, Professor X made a cameo in Dr Strange movie. This will mean that the world of superheros will include mutants.
You're probably thinking of the time when Fox had the movie rights to X-Men -- that didn't make them Fox characters either, they just had the film rights, much like Universal and Hulk or Sony and Spider-Man...
Disney bought Fox as a whole, so it doesn't matter anymore.
Unless they shake up the staff behind the scenes, it won't matter what characters they use, it will still be shit. Marvel's biggest problem is their horrendous writing.

The Marvel's is predicted to bomb worse than Flash. At least Flash was decent. The Marvel's looks like straight trash.
South Park should have targeted Marvel too in the Panderverse. Their blatant pandering has been evident since that cringeworthy girl power scene in Endgame.
Marvel has so many great plots, the MCU post GoG 1 thought that joke approach was the only answer, the boys and invincible show Superheroes aren't dead. It's time the real comic stories from all companies, it they do this as one off's they will survive
No one wants to be tied into a universe with 80% of the relevant shit to each good film coming from substandard TV and movies. Gunn will destroy DC too, his take on superheroes is done.

Interestingly enough, that scene you're mentioning ironically makes the women heroes look weak. Particularly Captain Marvel who is supposed to be the poster child, the center stage, the ticket seller, the Superman 2.5. Yet despite her being so strong that she can one shot Thanos' flagship, she couldn't breeze through his army of fodder and needed help from a bunch of others to even reach the time portal. Either it was in her sadistic nature to purposely prolong going back in time by playing hot potato and risk Thanos getting the infinity gauntlet or her brain turned off that moment. Reminder this was before The Marvels where the plot says she's supposed to be even weaker.
