Because he knew the X-Men would more than likey have at least a couple escape the raid, and he needed to be away from the mansion incase they came back.

Is it just me or was the first two X-men movies too much about cerebro? I mean dont get me wrong i loved them both but the put too much of cerebro into it.

yeah besides, you wouldn't have that cool escape sequence, and jean dying to become phoenix!

I think Cerebro was different cos Magneto changes a few things before he gets the professor to attack the humans.

and i wonder y magneto does that....???

i think they should just rebuild the school, that way no one would have some stuff for the blueprints, but if they dont build a new cerebro, they will miss out on a lot of good character hunts too.

the mansion had other failsafe devices and the cerebro in the mansion probably would self destruct

cerebro was made by the help of the "shi`ar" according to the comics.
but in the movies it was made by magneto and professor. They would
have spent like 3 months trying to reconfigure the old one to the way
it would need to be done to kill all those mutants. So building a new one
in secret would actually be the best way to do it.

they do put alot of emphasis on cerebro, but i think mr. singer is just
playing this game smarter than most people think. by putting so much of
it into the first one two or even three movies.. he can later put it in
without giving ANY kind of reference to it what so ever, because people
will always be able to look back at it and be like, oh thats what it is.. etc .
