medi-chlorians were something new in Episode 1. George made them up so anikan could have something odd about him making him [in Qui-gons eyes] the choosen one of a prophecy. oddly enough this prophecy was also introduces in ep. 1. in the OT medi-chlorians didnt have to exist because they would have nothing to do with the plot. whats even bigger is that no one not even obi or yoda or anybody speaks of a prophecy that concerns anikan or anybody else.

exactlty like TV says, you could have expanded it to Naboo too before it got added in the ROTJ celebration (or is it not there? can't remember)
It doesn't mean that Naboo got blown up or something simply because it's not mentioned, it didn't add something
Asking these "why was these things in the PT but not in the OT" things are silly.
Why? Because you can find out yourself. The OT was made 30 years ago, Lucas came up with a lot of things since then. He hadn't thought of it before and isn't going to include them now is he?
Sorry if I sound abrupt.

But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya punk?
Becuase George didn't decide to completely demystify the Force by taking away its magical, spiritual aspect and turning it into DNA and blood until he made Episode I.

No, he never took away its spiritual aspect. He never changed any of that at all. He just introduced the means by which life forms interact with that spiritual aspect.

Re: Why aren't midi-chlorians mentioned in the OT?
Short Answer: Because they're bullcrap.
Long-ish Answer: It is believed by many that Qui-Gon Jinn's beliefs about the Force were vastly different to that of the other Jedi Masters, which is probably half the reason why he's not on the Council. He seems to place great importance on midi-chlorian counts when seeking the Council's approval to train Anakin, but the Council are more concerned with his general propensity to fear and attachment.
