What? I did a search and no Descent? Shame, shame.
Anyway, I watched this movie last week and it was awesome. I typically do not like horror movies, but this one is set with an Aliens type atmostphere. It also had some great homages (such as Carrie and Deliverance). I highly recommend this horror/thriller film. Plus its much better than Marshall's crappy Dog Soldiers.

I just saw it today. I liked it a lot. As a personal preference, I liked Dog Soldiers better, but I can understand anyone liking The Descent better.
My only beef with the movie was [SPOILER - highlight to read]: how long it took to introduce the crawlers. It took 40-60 minutes to bring them into the picture and by that time, the mood and theme should already be set, a thiller cave movie. It took them too long to introduce a supernatural element to the mix.
Also, the very end bothered me. [SPOILER - highlight to read]: What the hell was that in the passenger seat? What purpose did that give the film? It just seemed like an unnecessary five seconds.
Those were two very minor details that bothered me. Other than that, great movie. I'll be looking forward to Neil Marshall's next movie, and hopefully it'll get a earlier US release date.
By the way The Descent was a great movie, Smeagols and all!

It's not new. I recall all the immature assholes in grade school using that word as the universal negative term, which really make absolutely no sense, as the definition of "gay" doesn't mean anything negative.

Return of the living dead.
It had an amazing claustrophobic atmosphere, tension you could cut with a knife, some of the most unnerving monsters I've ever seen, and some of the best use of blood and violence I've seen. The gore was impressive and used often, but never to the point where it felt the movie was relying on that factor to be cool. The atmosphere and creatures were always the most affecting things in the movie. This movie was probably the best horror film I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in the theater.
See this immediately if you even have a passing interest in horror, and if you're a horror fan who's been underwhelmed by the recent horror releases this year, then prepare to have your faith in the genre reinvigorated.
