Okay elephant in the room, why isn't hyperspace suicide a more widely used tactic? Ackbar could have destroyed the Executor with one of his medical frigates at Endor.

Yep. It's a stupid plothole. Admiral Purple-hair could have done this right from the start and ended the movie right there.

Also a spoiler in the title? C'mon.

I been thinking about this for ages. It's more of a plot hole for every other movie and TV show and book that it never happened.

There's a few relatively easy explanations. Precision hyperspace jumps were ****ing hard before The Clone Wars. Saessee Tinn and Anakin were the first to use it in canon. After that, interdictors I guess?
