The force runs strong in my family vs TLJ
in the trailer for TFA Luke says the force runs strong in my family ... you have that power to,
seemingly talking to Rey
but in TLJ its clear Rey isn't a skywalker or even related.
i suppose you can retcon this by saying he was referring to ben solo, but luke was addressing this person with a very warm heartfelt reassuring voice
i think JJ Abrams intended Rey to be a Skywalker

Wasn't that simply the dialogue from RotJ between Luke and Leia?

It seems like that dialogue was meant for the audience and not a person within the film.
@CSZ: Nah, MH recorded it for the trailer.

From what I've read, Rian Johnson wrote TLJ before he even saw the final cut of TFA. Would explain a lot.

Why would that explain a lot?
He still has the script and raw footage.

Rian did good. JJ did not.
