What type of training is better?

What type of training is better?

1. Primary "hands on" training, where the student is getting actual one-on-one training from another force user (like a Jedi teaching a Padawan)

or

2. Secondary training, where the student learns only by opening holocrons or reading texts?

Depends on the teacher, imo.

Generally speaking, it's probably better for the student to receive hands-on training initially, just to make sure they have a solid base/platform to build on.

But once the student has some of the fundamentals down, Holocrons and texts potentially allow them to expand their overall knowledge/power/skill to a level far beyond what they may have ever been able to reach with a single teacher, as many of these items contain information that the teacher: a.) might not have even known, and/or b.) might not have wanted to teach the student. We've seen this several times in both canon and Legends.
