Christmas was a Pagan holiday adopted by the U.S. government. Christians adopted it as the birth day of christ because there was no real "known" birthday for him, so they used the already existing one.

You're actually incorrect. Christians adopted it as the birthday of Christ because it was around the same time the Romans celebrated a pagan holiday Saturnia, named after the goddess Saturnia, or Hera to the greek, thereby they avoided being persecuted for their faith, since everyone celebrated. And the custom of giving and recieving presents, also from the Romans.

Not to mention that originally Christmas was celebrated on the 25th of December by the Julian calendar, the old one, but when the Gregorian calendar was created, it's named after Pope Gregory the 13th, the date's were screwed and so technically by following proper calendars, it should fall on January 7th nowadays.

The only thing the states can say they came up with was Santa Clause, he was invented by Coca Cola, and they did the artistic image we know today. Although he's modeled after Saint Nicholas, who is the real Santa if you will.

Actually, you're not 100% correct either. Hera's Roman name was Juno. Saturn was the Roman god of the harvest.
