Can Film Screen Protectors Adhere to Matte Screens?

I have a 26" matte LCD screen for my TV (so it's not shiny and glossy) but I want a film screen protector for it...I've emailed one person who sells screen film protectors and have not received a reply yet...and was wondering if anyone here knows.

Facepalm to who? I would've to the second poster.

Screen protectors are not even mainly for keeping a screen clean. It's to protect it from damage from scratches, marks, etc.
