Help needed on The Getaway Black Monday (PS2)

I'm on the 5th mission on the getaway black monday, but am unsure whether I have to follow or take out the van that has kidnapped the newspaper reporter,( I think her name is suzie). I have tried both but when I took out the truck I killed the reporter and when I followed it, it took me to its base and then when I followed in the van I failed the mission because I 'took to long'.

Please if anyone could help me it would be appreciated highly.

It is pretty crap.

I don't know how people can play GTA and then switch to this game.

It's a dead city with more glitches than the last game. Do I really need an out of date 3D interactive map of London? For £30-£40? Hell no.

O shut up. Its graphics are alot better than san andreas as I know that is what you are refering to The Ones. I come from London so I actually appreciate the fact that all the shops are correct and in the right places.

real place=lots of limitations. since its a real place they cant make up something within it that isnt in that real place. yes the graphics are better than SA but the gameplay on SA beats the getaway anyday. on san andreas you can practicly do anything and the scale is huge and lots to do

I own both of these games, and I think they are both awesome, but also quite different.

The only similarity between these two games is that you can wander around a city and steal cars, and thats where the similarity ends.

GTA offers more of a free-forming RPG experience with multiple objectives and lots of things to do/find/look for.

The Getaway/Black Monday, offers a more linear, rigid story driven experience.

But the more I think about it, its an unfair comparison, because they are both very different games and they both have good points and bad points and also have things in one title that betters the other.

And to answer your question H, when you bust up the van you need to waste the Russian dudes and get the reporter in your car.
I too am from London and it is nice to see MOST of the streets in the right places. big grin

Actually, I don't even live in London and I can tell you right now the game is already inaccurate and out of date, and with every year, BECAUSE it is a real place, it will get more and more out of date as the city inevitably changes so rapidly.

Besides, London is flat and boring. Flat, grey roads everywhere. Couple that with the fact the streets in this game are dead or at best, robotic, then it doesn't seem very appealling.

GTA: SA is partially based on real life locations. It gets the most exciting bits of the real locations and gets to mix them all together. The map is also designed in order to provide an excellent video game world.

London was not designed to be digitally recreated in a videogame. The design doesn't flow properly, as the map in Getaway was designed with traffic control, not video game experinece, in mind.

Throw in crappy camera angles, annoying player control and the FAKEST "Sarf Landan" accents ever, and you've got a video game that not only plays badly, but doesn't even succeed in what it is supposed to. The idea of The Getaway was to provide a realistic London - if the city out dates itself and is bustling with people, then why is Getaways London innacurrate and lifeless? It doesn't even get that right.

They really should have tried to get London "visually" correct. Get the odd landmarks and so on right, rather than trying to recreate the UK's flattest city, then they would have more time to spend on the actual gameplay. Also, the characters are the ugliest human beings I have ever seen - I suppose they captured Londoners pretty well (ooh burn!).

i have to agree. how can anyone like getaway 2. i played it and 1 minute into it i stopped playing. i bet "the telitubbies: find dipsticks lost purse" will be better. the controls are shit in getaway, the graphics for the character faces look incredibly unreal, flat and hand drawn. the way the character moves isnt like a real human. cj's face looks real when you compare it to those of the getaway and vice city. sure people argue that cj runs like a 100 meter sprinter but thats because he isnt over weight and has some strength. SA=9/10 getaway -20000000/100000000000000
