Binary Opposites In POTC 1
Hi there, im currently doing a study for my Media AS2-Levels and im doing "What role do binary opposites play in the Disney film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, and how do they enforce the Narrative" and i was wondering if fans could help me with this
im only looking for the first 2 films, examples would be such as:
Pirates ship - Black Sails
English - White Sails
or
Pirates - Dirty and ripped uniforms
English - Neat and proffesional uniforms and tidy presented
Get the idea? now any help would be greatly appreciated so can people post as many ideas as they can place to help me along with my project : )
Thankyou very much for any help

The proposals!
Norringtons/ English proposal: calm, tender, with pleasant music in background.
Jacks/ pirate proposal: half mocking, full of innuendo, on a ship.
celebration after defeating an enemy:
Pirates: drunken revelry
english: calmly shouting "huzzah" a few times.

Elizabeth!!!
Elizabeth as proper English woman: falls off a balcony, gets kidnapped by pirates, gets locked in prison.
Elizabeth as pirate: kills a few badguys, escapes and blackmails local leader, chains a known criminal to a sinking ship.

Even Jack and Liz work well as opposites. They are two halves. She is outwardly good and has a heart, but has an inner bad girl. Jack is outwardly bad and a hardened criminal, but has an inner heart.

You could even do Jack and Barbosa, their captain styles. Jack hasn't sold his soul, so to speak, and Barbosa is totally hedonistic and will kill whoever gets in his way.

what about Murtogg and Mullroy VS Pintel and Ragetti? LOL.
Murtogg and Mulroy: Goofy, bumbling, simple, straightforward, strong ideals, willing to die for King and Country at the end of 1. Good teeth.
Pintel and Ragetti: Obscene, argumentative. Fearful and conniving. Willing to leave their crew behind to save themselves. Horrible teeth.
