In my opinion,Jack seems like Spirit from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
When Beckett says 'Jack must find a place in the New World....', I can see this happening.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f6FX2y1Cc4

..him actually accepting to be tied down with Liz was actually his freedom .before he was denying himself what he wanted most in life "Elizabeth" and that actually restricts a person...as soon as he accepts her as an obligation he faces anything he wants too lol He's finally free now what he has her
I think that line is one of those double meanings IMO its saying he will have to change to be a happier/braver person..and have someone in his life who he cares for or he will perish..because when Jack was denying himself Liz..he was quite emotionally broken as a man in movie 2..even before that in movie 2 it was obvious he needed someone in his like for make him complete..which is what will probably save him in the future because the EITC did take over and wipe out all pirates and the only change I see with Jack is Liz

he probably will...when i looked at this famous pattern that can be placed over any hero's journey, I placed Will's story so far over it and it seems as if he is going to end with his father instead of Liz..because what ever the mentor does for the character to help them in their adventure is what their elixir will be..and Tia helps him find his father
1. Ordinary World
2. Call to Adventure(sets out to get Liz)
3. Refusal of the Call ( Will knows his dad's alive.but Liz being no1..he doesnt persue him untl No.4)
4. Meeting With the supernatural Mentor(Tia)
5. Crossing the First Threshold(accepting adventure/father)
6. Tests, Allies, Enemies (has just seen Liz smooching Jack)
---------------------------------------------Will is here when movie 2 ends
7. Approach
8. Supreme Ordeal
9. Reward
10. The Road Back
11. Resurrection
12. Return With the Elixir
