Strange "day to day" is only so powerful in the grand scheme of things. OTOH, he would benefit more from "pres-time" than just about anyone else. A month? He could do that "Gates of Destruction" spell than Mordo tried in only a week. If strange went bad, the rest of the MU would have a hard time even finding him. When he amps himself up sufficiently... Well he took out Shuma-Gorath in single combat on SG's home plane in the 80's "Strange Tales" run. More than once, he has mind-wiped most of the world.

If it was just Earth he was after, we'd all be in trouble. No one short of cosmic good guys are going to stop an evil Strange with tons of prep...and normally they aren't just chillin' in Manhattan. Reed Richards might be the best hope against him among Earth heroes (maybe Sentry too, depending on what power level you have him at), but Strange would probably know that and target them early. Reed in a pocket dimension won't do us much good.
Strange wins...new world order for the doctor.
