i dont know much about either of these characters info is scarce so maybe someone can help shed light on them?

Promethea beat him...then wakes up.
Sandman is pretty powerful. He's done things like that before, the whole issue looks like hes gettin his ass kicked, then at the end...the person wakes up.

Sandman is in full control of dreams.
Prom would think he beat him in a dream that Sandman was controlling.
All the while Sandman would just leave.
Sandman is pretty awesome.
