He was an exalted member of the eagle host of the pax dei in HEAVEN. Warren is a mortal mutant, whereas zauriel is an angel with experience from the beginning of time.

But, flight at those speeds will cause damage to things around him due to the breaking of the sound barrier, so his usual casual flight speed is just under the speed of sound. He is able to fly on Earth and in the ocean, with the wings providing propulsion. This flight would not function in deep space, since there is no air or atmosphere to push against his wings to propel him forward. Should his wings be bound, he would be unable to fly.

The Angelic power still within Zauriel's now-mortal body is still stronger than the average. This allows Zauriel to be capable of listing somewhere around three thousand tons under extreme circumstances. His body is resistant enough that he would be able to lift such weights without causing strain on his own system immediately, with some internal effects to his body happening after an hour or so. He will not be able to lift heavier objects, even with pushing his powers to their maximum. He is able to punch a hole through a six-inch steel wall with effort and not end up injuring his hand.

One of the main powers Zauriel was allowed to keep was his Sonic Cry. The Sonic cry is a musical shout in the Angelic Musical speech, which has various effects when used. The Cry can only be used in a planet's atmosphere; it cannot function underwater or in the deep vacuum of space. Using the Cry also strains Zauriel's mortal shell, which could result in massive internal damage if used too many times in sucession. The sonic waves can disrupt the Angelic form on the physical Plane, which could disperse an Angel into his or her component atoms for years, with the Angel reforming after that time has elapsed. To regular flesh, the cry at full strength could possibly liquefy the matter, like it does to everything up to steel, working with about 20 tons of force behind it./b] As a mortal being, the force both ways: Zauriel needs to brace himself while using the Cry or he will be pummeled backward by his own force.

Including his enhanced Physiology, due to being an Angel taken mortal form, Zauriel's body is highly durable even without the armor. His eyes are protected from the damages of high-speed flight, and his body is able to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures. He can walk on the Moon at Superman's side and not feel cold, or he can visit Atlantis without needing a respirator or pressure suit, as well as walk into a burning building unscathed. His skin can stop a lot of the major damages of bullets, though a needle can still get through (as when Jerry injected him to stop his heart so he could enter Heaven and rescue Shannon during the Second rebellion).

Having wielded a sword since his initial creation at the start of all things, Zauriel has had plenty of practice with the blade over the span of years he has existed. He has fought in wars, both in Heaven and on Earth, and battled countless demons, villains, and other Infernal beings. The sheer number of years Zauriel has had practice with have made him an expert with the Angelic Sword he carries with him, able to fight off four attackers, given enough room to manuvuer. More than that, there are too many opponents at once for him to be able to move around comfortably to weild the weapon.

Zauriel does not have the single-minded skill at hand-to-hand combat that Batman does. And even if he lives for another millions years, he probably never will. However, that much time training as a warrior Guardian, as well as participating in numerous wars and battles has left Zauriel with an excellent knowledge of hand-to-hand combat. He is able to hold his own against two or three skilled opponents, though can still be overwhelmed by sheer numbers or a more highly-skilled combatant.
