I'd rather piss off fictional characters than a batshit insane writer, so I won't watch it.

I do believe that Alan Moore's book does things that are beyond the realm of film. But at the same time it would be really hard to miss out on the opportunity to watch a piece of art in action.

Why? You can't put Pulp Comics into a film, nor can you do the expansions (IE Rorschach's File, excerpts from a fictional biography on a retired superhero [The Original Nite-towl(Thank you Kris)], The opinion of a philosopher on the concept of a man becoming god, & Excerpts from a ficitional Ornathology book that detail key things that coincide with the story of the Watchmen) in a film as well.
Zach Snyder even said he wasn't putting "The Black Freighter" into the movie, but instead as a short on the DVD, This STILL isn't a pulp comic book.
Terry Gilliam was stated as saying the only way the movie could be really made was for it to be 8 hours long. I don't believe the STORY would take 8 hours to create, but I also don't believe that given ANY amount of time, you could do the things done in the watchmen.
Moore Created a world with all the different side creations.
I will still be seeing the movie, though.
[edit] This is NOT me stroking the ego of Alan Moore, and I won't say that if you don't like it you just don't get it. These are the reason's I like the book.
I truly do think that this comic book redefined the Comics Genre.

It's spelled Nite-Owl, not night.
