For those that do not know; Synnar took on Superman, Orion, J'onn J'onzz, Wonder Woman, and GL Kyle. The best that they could do was topple him for a couple of panels. Re-reading it makes me think that he was nearly as powerful as DP Tyrant during his pre demiurge phase.

Yeah, Synnar basically gave a top tier JLA the biggest beating of their lives. They couldn't even slow him down.

I never seen that fight personally so I can't directly comment on it but assuming it was straight up, exactly how would Thor go about winning this? Sure he could pull something like the God Blast out I guess but it's not exactly his go tactic.

Well, he was eventually killed by a staged teleportation "accident" designed to keep him from completing the second phase of a 'port, basically distinigrating him. That initially failed because Synnar has total control of his energy, reintegrated himself by sheer will. So basically, he was dying the entire time he was fighting the JLA, and still tanked their best shots and manhandled them like they were children.

Blunt force doesn't really phase him, and energy attacks are useless, because he can tap into and control energy (And in fact has an alternate energy form, but prefers fighting as a solid being.)

In the end, it took the teleportation tampering, a lot of fighting, and a device designed to disrupt his energy form to kill him, and he still had the will power to assume his physical form long enough to tell Chief Max "It's only just begun".

If it helps, this is a Jim Starlin monster. They all kind of run into each other. big grin

Synarr was pretty awesome, but I think Starlins losing his touch. The "Strongarm Aberrant Six into joining" thing especially. I'm sure at least Adam Strange knows DC has contact with angels now, so his entire scheme comes crashing down if Strange informs the JLA, and Zauriel or someone gets word to the Presence... (And I hated how Starlin made Captain Comet out as a dick and a coward..)
