I mean, if he was able to contend with a Thor that was amping off the Power Gem, logically, how wouldn't he able to handle a Thor who's not growing more powerful?
Thanos, but if Thor fights smart he can make it a hard won fight for Thanos. IMO There is no proof that the PG amped Thor beyond 2x more powerful.
Disagree. Thor has taken more punches from stronger foes and not been koed. Plus that was a low showing from SS. Not at all indicative of what will happen in a forum fight.
^ maybe Thor will be the one to put Thanos down, and in AvX he goes ape shit on Phoenix Scott and hurts him enough for Hope to take the force away from him. I refuse to give up hope.
A lot of times, that's how the writers keep some kind of balance. Matching up bad showings with major wins. To keep things interesting.
Just an observation.
It would be terrible if Thor defeated Thanos alone. It would ruin continuity AGAIN! He should be able to put up a good fight, but we are running out of villains that stay at the top of the pyramid.
Eventually, they all end up defeated by Kitty Pryde, or Robin, or Cypher, or D-Man, or Cat Woman, or Tigra, or the Spanker. (Sorry. I had to through him in there.)
Thor MUST lose, unless he wins through a plot device, or with help.
Half the reason we all argue so much in here, is because continuity sucks in these books.
A moment of Silence for the following reputations:
Galactus
Darkseid
Fin Fang Foom
Count Nefaria
Despero
Ultimo
... and all the other "Uber-Villains" who have stood in slack-jawed awe, as some weaklinghero defeated them, even though they lacked the power and ability to do so.
Feel free to add to the list of the mistreated characters.
