Both have standard weapons. Fight take place on land.

Ares right before his death would beat Aquaman on land, he was closer to Wonder Woman than Orin at that point.

In water? Aquaman has the speed advantage, but Ares doesn't need to breath, has an almost Wolverine like healing factor (At least under Oeming) and can do some wacky shit as seen when he followed both the Secret Warriors and X-man to their destination. Aquaman would win imo if he plays smart and Ares is disarmed.
