You're either intentionally biased or literally know absolutely nothing about Nathan Grey.
During the original X-Man comics run, nate at his most powerful was on par with the pheonix force in terms of telepathy and telekinesis. So powerful that he was almost able to use his telekinesis to alter reality itself. Are you therefore implying that Pheonix is not a powerful enough telepath to rape Surfer's mind?
Nate's level of telekinesis at his full power are more than enough to have him manhandling surfer up and down the battle field. The Silver Surfer cannot win agaisnt Nate Grey. Not without some serious cheating.
Not true Nate was indeed powerful but based on what he did he was no where close to Jean as the Phoenix and certainly no where near the PF. Moira compared Nate's energy readings to Jean as the Green Phoenix but the artist illustrated the DP whom Moira NEVER tested.
And what's worse is when Moira tested Jean as the Phoenix she still had mental blocks on her powers people confuse the context behind what was written.
I don't know anything about Moira or her comparisons, but it was stated more than once by Professor Xavier that the only telepathic strength he'd encountered that could compare to the Pheonix Force was that of Nate Grey.
This is the same dude who has such vast telekinetic abilities he can phase through walls by manipulating his atoms as well as transform into a pure energy being. Nate's power is beyond that of the Silver Surfer. Strong as the Surfer is, he will not win agaisnt X-Man. Not to mention he is capable of mimicking superboy's tactile telekinesis powers, which would put him on even footing in a physical fight.
Nate is quite frankly more than powerful enough to beat the surfer.
And even if he wasn't, Nate and Cable could both easily repair Legion's fractured mind, then Legion goes on to Solo defenders, so X-Men still win.
