strange appears untouchable atm (he already effortlessly pwn'd the multiversal avengers team with both thor and hype on it).
death sentry would be next imo as he is well above normal herald based on what he did to thor and that he seemed to match celestial-lifting rogue.
bm/hulk are too close to call imo.
unworthy thor still lacks the feats (though looked good in axis) so i'd place him and hype in the same boat--too close to call. the last 4 are well below the first 2 imo. after that fanboy/anti-fanboy tendencies will dictate the order.

hmm, new avengers 27 maybe? it's hard keeping all the avengers titles straight. anyway, strange is the current leader of the black priests (assuming we use 'current' to describe the temporal mess that those avengers books are in....). anyway, he paralyzed all of them, effortlessly, with one word, and gave every indication he could do a lot more.....and thor was using the alt thor's hammer so he was at full power. starbrand, aleph and nightmask were also all on that team, along with thor and hype. since strange made that deal for his soul, i'm not real sure WHAT limits there are to his powers. he could well prove to be a cosmic level character now i guess.....
Dr. Strange was unable to complete the godhead deal for his soul, because he lacks the full measure of a soul. What he did against the Multiversal Avengers team, he learned on his own.
Yeah, I think he might be the most powerful of them all, given time but the others are aware of him being the most dangerous and hard to counter once his spells are up, so i think they would go for the speedblitz, at least those fast enough and end him before the real fights starts.

ah you're right, yes, thanks. didn't he gain some measure of power though?? it wasn't that long ago but that avengers story has been such a jumble.... anyway, still think he's first in this. those black priests were depicted as pretty uber through the arc and strange seemed outright beastly imo.
^ Yes, that is 616 Dr. Strange. It's apparently where he's been since he left the Illuminati in New Avengers vol.3 #23. In New Avengers vol.3 #20, it was revealed he got nothing:
Somehow, Dr. Strange knows the Black Priest's words of power. Whole words, not just letters. Which is how they use it and how Norn managed to use it (by sacrificing parallel lives) to spell the words of power.

ok, now i remember why i was confused--it's the last scan. it says stephen sacrificed all he had remaining. but i guess maybe he didn't sacrifice the remainder of his soul to that demon entity? then to what? the abyss? was he just saying he gave up the rest of his soul to access the dark magic he rarely uses? upon first reading, i assumed he had just bartered the rest of his soul for knowledge of the words. if not, i don't know who he gave up the rest of his sould to. http://s1151.photobucket.com/user/s...a/1-10.jpg.html
for those who don't know--that creature went on to demolish the sun god's team. strange was dropped by a surprise attack from stark. wherever he got his new powers from, this is definitely a much more powerful strange, one who has said, in his own words, if he is to go out, it will be having used all the knowledge and power that he can access.
The words Dr. Strange is speaking during his fight with the Great Society or those of the Blu'dakorr, the Blood Bible. Different from the Black Priests' words of power. Which the Norn was threatening to use on him.
You can assume Stephen sacrificed what remained of his soul to the Blood Bible to call that demon down. And basically the Illuminati tossed it all aside when they took him down and canceled the summoning. Which is why Dr. Strange is so morose here:
Yeah the Blood Bible was a book Strange had access to way back in NA #3 I think, as it was an option when they went to the Earth where Galaktus was eating. I think it's just a very dangerous spell that he can do with preparation rather than any power upgrade.
But yeah currently Strange definitely tops this, what he did to the Avengers team was pretty damn impressive, along with his absolute trashing of the Doctor Fate expy from The Great Society.

on rereading it, it makes more sense than it originally did. i understand my initial confusion though. norn asks if strange knows the words--strange utters words of power. the norn's helmet has a single eye (the same eye/helmet that represents the black priests) and strange himself 'grows' a single eye and then of course, the ending where he says he gave up the last of his soul for power, when we previously see him trying to barter his WHOLE soul for power. and we also didn't see the entity refuse to take the REMAINDER of his soul, so it wasn't completely unreasonable to think strange, off-panel, bartered the rest.
the parallels are actually.....convoluted and unnecessary imo as it really does leave itself open to confusion. it will be interesting to see the explanation regarding how strange learned the words of the black priest. maybe something he claimed from norn will prove to be the answer....?
