The synergy effect of the goblin serum and the Carnage symbiote nullified the weaknesses of the symbiote (sonics and heat) plus adding extra powers like homing symbiote pumking bombs and remote controlled symbiote tissue (actually removed from the main symbiote)

Bran is trolling and Patriot is firing vanilla energy beams, not repulsors.

Not that repulsors have any effect on symbiotes.
