I know Guardian is ranked High Meta, It's just in my opinion hes close to punching the cieling of that tier. Onnsome of his high end feats an argument could be made for him just making low herald tier. Hense the "borderline" part of the comment
I got the humor Stilt, but someone has to play the straight man for everyone to trundle jokes off for to work as well. Jeryy Lewis was funnier for having Dean Martin. Costello wouldn't have been anywhere near as funny without Abbot beingnthe butt of his jokes.

For one thing, Logan's admantium claws cant penetrate Guardian's shields (uncanny x-men somewhere around 108/109/110 from memory, KM would know for sure and probably have the scan)
To a point, but bone claw is also inferior in other ways too. Overall I do not think anyone has claimed bone claw is superior.
If his adamantium claws couldn’t cut him, what does it matter if he back handed him? It didn’t defeat him or do anything serious of note.
We have seen wolverine fail to cut through James shield and another example Lady Deathstrike’s had an Electo magnetic sword (which was similar to Guardians shield)....and Wolverine couldn’t cut it. He even thought her sword was adamantium and was terrified it was going to cut through Heather who was now wearing Guardians suit. But when Deathstrike tried to use her sword on Vindicators shield it shattered to pieces on the first strike

Modern showings, we have them going toe to toe... and there's also that showing with pre-X-Men Wolverine beating Mac in his prototype suit using environment and being smarter than him.
We've also seen him getting stabbed when facing a simulation (training robot? whatever it was, wasn't the real thing) of Wolverine

And? His claws still couldn’t cut through his shields even after that initial appearance. You mentioned bone claw hitting him with a back hand (if your referring to wolverine #95). But that wasn’t even a fight. Guardian thought he was attacking an innocent person so he dive bombed wolverine and was holding him on the ground and told him to stop. He wasn’t trying to fight him. His shields were off and then wolverine back handed him. That was it
What modern showing shows them going toe to toe? You mean in his groundhog armour?
Are you talking about AF vol 2 #1? That was after Guardian beat him. He turned off his shields and went to go check on him and then Wolverine recovered and stabbed him. Was a training session to show wolverine was still human and not an animal. That was also planned by Department H so they could clone James and make a version they could control
