To be fair, in their first fight Comedian has defeated Ozymandias, but it had a context - Ozzy was younger and less experienced, and he actually was studying how Comedian fights, and let him win in the end (which Ozzy outright states). Ozymandias also had defeated Rorschach and Nite Owl II at the same time, but their feats aren't that impressive (they at best was defeating only fodder thugs and cops).
Fury has a black belt in taekwondo and brown belt in jiu-jitsu,and also knows boxing, judo and fencing. Fury also fought toe-toe woith Moon Knight, easily put Daredevil in an armlock and defeated Baron Strucker several times (this guy is one of the best fencers in Marvel). And Fury has defeated Absorbing Man's son in a boxing match, despite the fact that guy was a legit metahuman.
Plus, Fury held his own against Captain MAerrica and even against Wolverine (though Logan was holding back and Fury used gagets/prep).
Because Comedian was drunk as fuck and taken by surprise.
You haven't read their rematch from Doomsday Clock? Or their first fight from Before Watchmen?
Of course, Nick still has the advantage of having well over 1000 appearances while Comedian has less than 50. But his showings against Cap aren't particularly helpful there.
Fury was prepped against Steve, too. Didn't help him much.
Yeah, Cap still defeated Fury even after having prep. Logan also wrecked him even while holding back and beinmg struck by Fury's anti-metahuman gadgets.
Fury also didn't defeated Moon Knight, he retreated when he saw than he can't take him in H2H.
Futy also had a fight with Viper (Madame Hydra) to draw/stalemate (though they was interrupted). Viper held her own against Black Widow, until BW BFR'ed her.
The film prison fight indicates these gus are superhuman. Far more so than in the comics. The film Comedian might have a chance, the comic Comedian has none.
Fury is helluva tough fighter and he can fight all by himself. And this feat alone shows how Fury is really capable as a fighter (out-boxing a son of pro heavyweight boxer, who is also a legit meta).
Lol. I once saw a guy who claimed that Rorschach would wreck Punisher in hand-to-hand combat "because he wrecked a SWAT team eith his bare hands arnd was one-shotting thugs".
Yes. Only to be outnumbered and captured. And Rorschach was able to damage some cops because he blindsided them. And Punisher also has one-shotted thugs on ocassions.
Blake's best h2h-esque feat was stalemating Ozy in Before Watchmen... But there were a few major factors at play there:
a.) It was later stated that Ozy allowed Blake to 'win' in order to get a better read on his fighting style.
b.) That fight occurred when Ozy had literally just been in the hero game for 1 year. He was still immensely skilled, but not nearly as skilled as he became later on. Conversely, Blake had already been in the game for a few decades at that point, and therefore had a LOT more practical experience... Yet he still didn't pull an actual victory.
They also fought again in Doomsday Clock, but that fight was inconclusive at best. Moreover, Ozy was effectively fighting with one arm there, because he was holding/protecting Bubastis with the other arm.
I don't even count their fight in the original Watchmen series, because Blake was drunk and really didn't even try to fight back... Though he likely would have lost anyway, imo.
Seems like Blake's only real chance here is hoping that he can shoot Fury in the face, before he gets gunned down himself and/or beaten to death. Don't get me wrong, Blake is skilled... He's just not beating most of the noteworthy Marvel/DC streets who have more legitimate quantifiable feats.
Like said it before, yes. Comedian has defeated (it's considered as a win, although more looks like a stalemate) Ozymandias when Ozzy was young, less experienced (yes, he has skills, but before that he hardly has enough experience, unlike Comedian) and was actually studying Comedian's fighting style.
Agree about fight in Doomsday Clock. Prime Ozymandias vs Prime Comedian would likely end with Ozymandias' victory.
Yeah. But it's unlikely, because Fury is too fast and too experienced to be shoot in the face in direct fight. So yes, Fury wins. Blake is good, but in comparison to other characters from Marvel or DC (outside of Watchmen) he isn't that great. Even in comparison to Punisher.
