Does Satsui No Hado translate to steroids in Japanese? I think that's the moral of the story that the games trying to preach.
Satsui No Hado (Steroids) is a cheap and easy way to get stronger faster, at the expense of losing humanity (and heart problems later on with steroid use) That's why Ryu is so against the idea of going down that road, because he know he'll reach his true potential (True health) by going all natural.
How else do you explain Ryu all of a sudden changing personality, getting horrible body acne, his voice dropping a couple of octaves and being in roid rage mode 24/7?
You are aware that you got Ryu fightin the same dude 3 times in this thread, Frisky?
1. Seth /Win
2. Sagat /Win
3. Vega (SFIV) /Win
4. Gouki /Win
5. Gouken /?
6. Shin Vega /?
7. Gill /?
8. Shin Gouki /Win
"Shin" Evil Ryu has taken the SNH to a level beyond even Shin Akuma. The hole is his chest comes from his heart disapearing due to the fact that Ryu is now solely powered by Evil energy. Think of Akuma at the the end of the Ryu Final, just a shell with SNH in it. He is menat to be a step below Oni in SFIV.
9. Oro /?,
He's prolly gonna lose tho.
10. The Oni /Lose
11. Ryu /?
Prolly gonna lose, dependin on what Evil Ryu's actual plot involvment is, if there's any.

Re: Re: Shin Evil Ryu runs The Fianl Gaunlet Gaunlet
I can't see Evil Ryu win against Shin Akuma. the Evil Ryu in sf4 can't control his power while Akuma has full control of it and he's got more experience with SNH.
Against Ryu, if we take off the PIS, Ryu lose cuz Evil Ryu = untaped full power Ryu.
Gender: Male Location: Kicking pigs out of the screen.
I believe he was stated to. He is supposed to eventually overcome him, and not only that he has more power "good" rather than "evil" by the time of SF3, which is something even Akuma couldn't accomplish.
I think too that Ryu has more potential than Gouki.
But Ryu cannot express all his potential power with the Satsui no Hado, simply 'cause that energy is not for him.
Gouki basically embodies the "philosophy" of the Satsui no Hado, and he's totally in control of it (for example, Gouki killed his master and "killed" his brother without any regret, but he's also able to hold back his power and spare an opponent).
Ryu instead is a good hearted man, so the cruelty, hate and rage instilled with the SnH is in contrast with his soul: that's why Evil Ryu is fare more "berserk" than Gouki.
Gouki embodies and controls the SnH, while Evil Ryu is "possessed" by the SnH.
It's similar to the Orochi Power in... Let's say Goentiz and Iori. Goenitz, a true Hakkeshu, manages to retain the mannerisms and civility of a priest, while in his Riot of Blood state Iori, a Sacred Treasure tainted with the energy of Orochi, is totally mad.

In the first Street Fighter tournament, Ryu felt a sudden urge to win against Sagat at all costs. That urge was the Satsui no Hado. Under its influence, Ryu rose up suddenly and gave Sagat his scar via a cheap-shot Metsu Shoryuken. Ever since meeting Akuma, the Satsui no Hado's evil intent has gotten stronger over the years within Ryu. The critical point has finally been reached, and Ryu has given in to the evil Hado. Where his heart once was is now a gaping hole of evil energy and emptiness. Evil Ryu seeks only one thing - worthy opponents for a fight to the death.
And Oni for good measure.
By mastering the Satsui no Hado, the man has become consumed by it. His mind is gone, and his body has been transformed into something that is incapable of being called human. What was once his code of fighting only the strong has become a mad desire to destroy everything in his path. The Supreme Master of the Fist, Akuma, is no more. There is only Oni, a demon in the truest sense of the word.
I also believe that Ryu has the potential to become stronger than Akuma. For one, he's the main character, 2 he's a good guy, and 3, I remember Meioh Hades sayin that Juni or Juli was scannin folks in the cast and it turned out Ryu had more potential than Akuma, Ryu had the highest in the game. This occured in SFA3 and it is indeed true, I checked.

Oh I know he turns away from the SNH and never tried to develop it.
Honestly he would be the most natural of all because he never even trained for it or tried to get it, he just had it in him Funny how he has mastered it and yet it consumed him, it seems like he would master it to keep from being consumed like Ryu. It makes sense in some ways though.
That's the whole point. I think too that Ryu has more potential than Gouki, but Ryu cannot fully express his potential with the SnH.
Ryu can achieve his ultimate power using things like Gouken's Power of Nothingness and Oro's teachings (the Senjutsu master seems a "good powers" user).
About Oni... Gouki became the very embodiment of the SnH, wich totally transformed him in the body, mind and soul.
