I have recently been playing emerald version a lot, and I have gotten a really good team of level 100’s. I have been wondering whether this new team could beat my best Crystal team. I will give the Crystal Team the appropriate 3rd Generation mechanics for an easily comparable battle. Here is my Crystal team (All Level 100):
1. Typhlosion (Held Item: Charcoal; Max Speed and Sp. Attack. Ability: Blaze)
Flamethrower
Thunderpunch
Earthquake
Sunny Day
2. Lapras (Held Item: Nevermeltice; Max Sp. Attack and Physical Defense, Ability: Water Absorb)
Ice Beam
Surf
Confuse Ray
Body Slam
3. Electabuzz (Held Item: Magnet; Max Speed and Sp. Attack, Ability: Static)
Thunder
Thunderbolt
Cross Chop
Thunder Wave
4. Marowak (Held Item: Thick Club; Max Attack and Sp. Defense; Ability: Lightning Rod)
Bone Rush
Rock Slide
Earthquake
Swords Dance
5. Umbreon (Held Item: Blackglasses; Max Defense and Sp. Defense; Ability: Synchronize)
Faint Attack
Toxic
Confuse Ray
Psychic
6. Alakazam (Held Item: Twistedspoon; Max Sp. Attack and Defense; Ability: Inner Focus)
Psychic
Ice Punch
Recover
Shadow Ball
Now my Emerald Team (All Level 100s):
1. Swampert (Held Item: Nevermeltice; Max Sp. Defense and Attack; Ability: Torrent)
Earthquake
Surf
Ice Beam
Hydro Pump
2. Camerupt (Held Item: Charcoal; Max Attack and Sp. Attack, Ability: Magma Armor)
Eruption
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Rock Slide
3. Sableye (Held Item: Spell Tag; Max Sp. Attack and Defense; Ability: Keen Eye)
Shadow Ball
Detect
Protect
Toxic
5. Electrode (Held Item: Magnet; Max Speed and Sp. Attack; Ability: Soundproof)
Thunder
Thunderbolt
Hyper Beam
Rollout
6. Latios (Held Item: Quick Claw; Max Speed and Sp. Attack; Ability: Levitate)
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Dragon Claw
Fly
With my Crystal Team, I will lead with Electabuzz, and with my Emerald Team, I will lead with Electrode. There are no weather effects to start. Both teams have had Pokerus since around level 10 (except Latios in Emerald).
It's cool, I only just restarted playing Pokémon in gen 6 from a break since gen 3. I'm still not sure what the hell I'm doing for half the time that I'm playing, and I have no clue which pokemon are good anymore.
I have recently raised an Aerodactyl to level 100 on Crystal, and he has replaced my Alakazam. Here is his moveset, abilities and items:
Aerodactyl (level 100, Max Special Defense and Attack (with Speed set 2 points from the maximum), Ability: Pressure, Held Item: Leftovers)
Flamethrower
Fly
Rock Slide
Earthquake
Out of curiosity, if I had put this Aerodactyl in my Crystal team originally instead of Alakazam, would it have changed the outcome?
