Defiance Kain is wiser, more powerful and just generally more evolved so I think hes going to make short work of his older self. The only way the original could win is if their in character and the more patient Elder Kain drew out their encounter to learn, while the younger who is more brasher just wanted to get to fighting and hit him with all his magical powers.
That said, both are immortal so eventually the Elder would out evolve the other and win via bfr or submission.
Also the balance guardian regulates magic himself and has some control over it, Kain as an Elder in Defiance were using the one from the end of defiance is now the balance guardian and could potentially nullify magic usage, leaving the younger Kain a lot less powerful.
