Executor solos. Its sheer bulk and armament would dominate. Giving it 3 extra ISDs is overkill.

you forget that the malovance has 3 providences as well
and it has that prototype ion cannon to disable those ISD's and probably the executor

Perhaps, but that cannon has to be cleansed before it can be fired again. The Executor's shield withstood the collision and explosion of several ISDs exiting from hyperspace, with nary a scratch to be found. If its shielding can withstand that shot, the Executor solos.

Of Clone Wars era Republic ships, yeah. I find it unlikely that the Empire's largest, most powerful state-of-the-art death ship with shields that withstand hyperspace-velocity impacts of three ISDs would be without some sort of protection from the previous war's ship-to-ship superweapons.

But the empire only encountered that weapon once and it was destroyed i doubt the republic commanders went to salvage the wreckage to create a suitable counter for the weapon

Plus it is armed with 500 turbo laser batteries & 16 engines so i think it still stands a pretty good chance against the executor

crap i forgot this was the executors arments
Over 5,000 turbolaser batteries and ion cannons[3]
2000 turbolaser batteries[12]
2000 heavy turbolaser batteries[12]
250 heavy ion cannons[12]
500 point-defense laser cannons[12]
250 heavy concussion missile batteries[5][7]
40 Phylon Transport Q7 tractor beam projectors

so that ion pulse cannon on the maloevance could be a deciding factor

Exactly. Either that cannon takes them out, or the Executor solos. Either way this isn't much of a match.

Executor easily defeats them. It seriously dominates whatever it comes across, ion canon or not.

Don't be so sure. The ion pulse cannons on the Malevolence take out multiple Republic capital ships per shot; it's area of effect is much larger than the Rebel ion cannon on Hoth.

If the pulse wave can penetrate the Executor's shielding, then the ship will be disabled. I for one doubt it can, but that's irrelevant.

It's the only thing going for the Malevolence and the Providences. Those three ISDs alone could take them out through conventional means, and so could the Executor. Either the ion cannon takes them all out, or it fails to take out the Executor and it wipes the floor with the CIS. This match-up goes with one extreme or the other.

The canon that the Rebel's had was a planetary one though. Planetary ion canons and turbolasers have been established to be FAR more powerful than anything seen on capital ships. If the Malevolence's ion canons were so effective, the Imperials wouldn't have putter greater emphasis on turbolasers than ion canons when going from the first ISD design to the second. In an case, ISD's are far more powerful than the Clone Wars ships and from Mike Wong's analysis at stardestroyer.net a SSD is roughly 100 times more powerful than an ISD.

He's banned. So you can ignore him.

I'm gonna stick with the Executor. Area of Effect =/= hypervelocity impacts.

Hence the necessity for the ion pulse cannon's design to be incorporated in to the Malevolence's structure--such was is its energy demand. That thing was capable of shutting down fleets. It was a pulse wave that expanded outward, not a single shot like the Hoth cannon. I have no idea if it would bypass the shields on the Executor, but the ISDs are done for. This is a big "maybe" with nothing to conclusive to work with.

100% of the time the executor would win. the malevolence ion cannon was only able to dish out more ionic damage 2x that of a venator. the executor super star destroyer had power that of over 100x that of a venator. so while the ion cannon would always his the executor. the electromagnetic damage would partially damage a few of the systems it would not completely disable any system so the executor would slug the shot of the malevolence and then begin to bombard the ship with its overwhelming firepower. that is why the executor would always win.
