One is a prosecutor who solves murder cases with evidence and logic and have the criminals put away. The other is an extremely smart detective who kills criminals and anyone who gets in his way while planning things to his advantage. Both do things in the name of justice
NOTE: This is not a physical fight but instead is about whether if Edgeworth would be able to expose Light as "Kira" and bring him to justice [SPOILER - highlight to read]: something L couldn't when he was alive. So it's more of a battle of wits.
Oh yeah, let's say Edgeworth starts working on this case during the Kira 2 [SPOILER - highlight to read]: (Misa) murders. Edgeworth and L will be working together but of course, it's mostly about Edgeworth solving this case.
By himself he would surely lose. A professional, yes, though lacking L's detective skills.
Together? I can see it happening. In L's reign someone like Edgeworth would be the second greatest mind on the case, and seeing how far L went solo I see Edgeworth backed by L going the distance.

I dunno, Edgeworth is a pretty good detective in the Ace Investigator games. From the bit in Trials and Tribulations he's also not totally averse to supernatural occurrences.
Miles is too well known. L's need to keep himself secluded and hide everything about him was one of the main reasons he was able to challenge Light. It wouldn't be nearly as hard for Light to get Edgeworth's name, and that's all it takes.

Edgeworth has no chance. Even if he doesn't get killed off the bat due to his well-known persona he has no hope of catching Light. Its simply above his abilities.
Risky, but more than possible. Light was able to keep to his agenda right under the noses of the investigation team. The only one who really had any kind of suspicions was L.

I just imagined a scene where Phoenix is trying to bring Light in and Misa sees Apollo and thinks it's Phoenix and so when Light writes his name down he drops dead in court but Phoenix is still there and then the music kicks in and Light is on the stand spazzing out and when he finally snaps and tries writing the name of Phoenix down in the part of the death note in his watch, the Judge throws a gavel at him severely bloodying him and he ends up bleeding out in the courtroom slumped against a wall and the last words he hears are "GUILTY" and he sees Ryuk in judge attire holding a gavel and slamming it down on him as all goes dark XD.
That being said idk about Edgeworths skills outside the PW games, I saw a copy of his game once in my entire life visiting Kentucky a few years back and it was the only one there too but I was broke at the time, always wanted it though cause I'm a big fan of the Phoenix Wright series, I still wonder how it is ;~;.
Lol imagine everyone passing the death note around in court so they can see Ryuk then calling him up to the stands xD..
I don't think the investigation team were as observant as L either and Edgeworth is probably as observant as L. Though unlike L, I don't think Edgeworth would be as quick to suspect anybody unless he has enough evidence and hints to back it up.
Edgeworth is very good atinvestigating piecing together threads of logic. Were it not for Light being able to kill him at any time I think he could do it. I'm of the opinion that Edgeworth could rival L in investigative prowess.
Though perhaps Wright or Apollo would be better suited to catch someone right under their noses, as both actually have supernatural backing in that department.
I don't think Light would be able to kill Edgeworth at "any time". It depends on the situation. In some cases, killing somebody would do Light more harm than good. This was the same mistake he made when he killed Lind L. Tailor.
If it was publically revealed that Edgeworth would be investigating the Kira case, then Light would kill him, no problem. But if it's either a secret (which I'm sure L would make sure it is) or he (Edgeworth) just happened to be involved by chance, then it's gonna be quite difficult for Light to do anything without drawing more suspicions around him.
Somebody using magical means to kill in a world where magic is not the norm should be virtually impossible to pin down, provided they have a bit of competence.

Edgeworth has experience with magic even if he's not totally a believer. He's used the magatama and has seen someone channeling a spirit with actual, physical effects.
And heh, Edgeworth getting involved is pretty often just by chance. Ace Investigator was basically just Edgeworth having the worst possible week.
If Edgeworth does expose Light as Kira, I think we all know what Light's breakdown would be. After all, it's already been shown in an Ace Attorney game:
