Death’s Head II (aka Minion)

Origin & Description: The “Minion” cyborg was created by the A.I.M. corporation (Advanced Idea Mechanics) in the year 2020. The pre-cognitive division of AIM had foreseen a great threat to AIM’s safety (later revealed to be the character Charnel). DHII was created to stop him.

To do this, DHII was programmed to assimilate the “instincts” (skills, mannerisms, memories, etc.) of 106 of the deadliest people in the galaxy throughout time (AIM could time-jump). Among the people he assimilated were the original Death’s Head and the entire information cache of Reed Richards’ computer (616 universe, circa 1992). Thus, he has the combined combat skill of countless warriors, as well as Reed’s scientific knowledge and many others.

The personality of the original Death’s Head became the dominant personality when he was assimilated (due to his cyborg nature), thus the name “Death’s Head II”. Not all of the original’s personality traits survived, but the guiding instincts and thoughts are those of the original DH.

Here we see the birth of Charnel, a mixture of the original Death’s Head’s body and the magical power of Baron Von Strucker. Charnel later becomes a herald (or greater) level being. He also kills Death’s Head’s (original) partner Spratt.

Strength feat: Here he is fighting an ugly baddy, and punches him hard enough into a stone pillar the size of a large building, and knocks it down.

The metal baddy that Killpower (see: roughly equal to mortal Hercules) couldn’t take out, and who shrugged off a stone building falling on top of him, DH owns with his arm-blade.

Possibly his best strength feat ever! They had just crashed a spaceship into the bad guy’s mothership. DH then lifts the freaking ship and tosses it on some henchmen. Judging just by the sheer size of the thing, and it’s metal composition, this easily puts him in the 100-Ton range.

Durability/Healing:

An alternate-history Wolverine breaks a claw trying to hurt DHII. There's speculation about it not being true adamantium, or weakened somehow (Charnel's magics, most likely), but it isn't backed up by the comics, which only states it to be adamantium.

Durability feat vs. Charnel. Gets blasted to hell, heals a bit, and is basically just pissed. This was immediately after Charnel had killed Rhino and She-Hulk, to put it in perspective.

This is both a good and bad feat. He’s fighting 616 Wolverine. Bad: Logan cuts his hand-weapon clean off. Good: he regrows it completely in about 4 panels. Keep in mind, his arm is made of a different substance than his body (liquid molybdenum) so it’s doubtful he could replicate this feat for his entire body.

Tuck blasts some grapefruit-sized holes in DH to kill a virus he had. He heals from the wounds in about 3 panels.

Another good healing feat. Die Cut had practically cut him in half. Death’s Head, to remain darkly ironic, begins reforming himself around Die Cut…and is fully healed in about a page or so.

…honestly, all he begins to reform is his arm, so we again have no on-panel evidence that he could do this with is entire body. Still impressive though.

Skill feat: An Iron Man-type with some martial arts skill (I think his name is Switchblade….anyway, he’s not a no-name baddy at least). DH shows him the ropes in about 4 panels, then punts him about a mile.

He’s basically immune to telepathy because of having 106 personalities within him. Here he shrugs off a psi-spike in the brain from Psylocke, saying toothpicks would hurt more.

DH’s arm can morph into a few different forms (laser cannon, cranial siphon, a blade configuration that is particularly sharp, etc.). Here he uses a variation off of the blade configuration and makes himself 2 blade-hands. It’s a total of about 8 claws on one hand. Cool stuff.

Good stuff, but didn't in his recent handbook entry [A-Z Handbook] state his body is made out of the same material of his hand? Pretty sure it did.

Possibly, but the A.I.M. bio I posted from one of his early comics would disagree with that. The arm is made from molebdenum, while his body is reinforced titanium plating. Maybe they either retconned that bit, or just forgot...but the clear distinction made between the versatility of his arm and the rest of his body would suggest that the majority of writers treated them as seperate substances.

And thanks. I was hoping to be able to wait longer to post this, since I was rooting for leo in the tourney (largely because of DHII). But still, I'm happy it's done and posted.

There has to be another bio as years ago when I did collect Death's Head way back when stated the same thing he had a layer of molebdenum over his entire body. Even when Wolverine slashed his chest opened up his body and it healed in like the next panel. I don't think it's a retcon at all.

You might be right...most of the DH stuff is fairly old, so it's possible I wasn't able to get my hands on some of it, or just missed the reference. It would definitely explain some of the healing feats.

But yeah, guilty as charged. But DHII backs his sh*t up, so I don't really think it's misplaced fanboy-ism.

In an amusing attempt to be an utter completist, I bought "Avengers Forever" where DHII has a cameo appearence. It hasn't come in the mail yet, but I'll probably post his camera time just for kicks.

It's also the arc that reveals that Space Phantom becomes Hercules, which is the scan that could've won Scoob and I the tourney we entered. I'm masochistic like that, so I want to look at it and weep.
