Character Traits: Ingenuitive Thinking.

1.1 Classic Ion

The foreshadowing of Kyle becoming Ion, took place in Green Lantern v3 #142, and Green Lantern Our Worlds at War. In short, Kyle finally claims the remnant "Central Battery" energies left by Parallax in the Sun.

With it, Kyle becomes a Cosmic Entity known as Ion.
Abilities: The sum total of all the energies contained by the Guardians of the Universe and the Central Power Battery which granted the possessor nigh-omnipotent control over time, space and reality.

2.1 Oblivion

The simplest explanation as to who Oblivion is…well its Kyle. He is Kyle’s “Id“. The physical manifestation of his repressed feeling/emotions (sorrow, anger, self doubt, and fear). These bottled up emotions threaten Kyle, and with the GL ring he subconsciously expelled them, which gave Oblivion a physical form.

3.1 Current Ion/Parallax

What you should know: Originally Ion or Parallax where just an alias Kyle and Hal took up after internalizing the energies of the Central Battery system. As of rebirth, that has bin retconed. Both Ion and Parallax are now Cosmic Parasites that can tap into respective emotional spectrum. Acting as a host, its said to be the equivalent of internalizing the Green Lantern Ring and its personal Battery. Because the power is internalized, willingly the host can tap directly into the Central Battery.

Ion Abilities: Bestows its host with flight, energy manipulation, and other powers similar to a Green Lantern Corps Power Ring and (when fused with Jade) the Starheart.

Parallax Abilities: Flight, Possession, Mind-control, Fear-induction, Solid energy constructs.

In regards to power and abilities. Both Parallax and Ion are capable of accomplishing the same feats. However a different set of discipline (training, and understanding) are required to properly wield their respective energies.
Originally Kyle held both his GL ring, and the Ion force before he dispatched his ring. Kyle does not need it, because he can accesses the Starheart energy, and tap directly into the Central Battery. (Note: In fact, if you pay attention to Green Lantern Corp #17 page 22. When the Ion Symbiote merges with Yat, you clearly see Ion holding a GL battery [Click Me].)

Green Lantern Era

Because there is so much depth, history, and appearances. Green Lantern Kyle will be divided into 3 sections/eras.

Rookie Kyle
This will cover Kyle’s initiation as the last Green Lantern, up until he started to tap into Parallax energies. In this era Kyle is basically learning the functions of his rings through a Trail by Fire (Learn as you go so to speak).

Road to Ion
Over the course of a year, Kyle was tapping into energies left by Parallax. This era will isolate that year’s worth of feats/events. There is much confusion as to what is and isn’t legit, and a reason as to why or where it was stated. I feel I should post, document, and source as much as possible to alleviate and clear that confusion.

Current GL.
After giving up his Omnipotent like powers, to reignite the Central Battery and revive the Guardians. Kyle becomes a standard Green Lantern. By this point, Kyle is by no means a rookie. Kyle become a Vet, an Elite, a Legendary Lantern. At this point, Kyle’s own legacy rivals Hal Jordan and Alan Scott.

4.1 Road to Ion

Over the course of a year, Kyle was tapping into energies left by Parallax. This era will isolate that year’s worth of feats/events. There is much confusion as to what is and isn’t legit, and a reason as to why or where it was stated. I feel I should post, document, and source as much as possible to alleviate and clear that confusion.

We actually have a vary, round about idea of how long Kyle has bin tapping into these energies. And though members want to believe that he was supercharged, it was really nothing more then Kyle not running out of energy. The actual build of power, didn’t happen up until Kyle was fighting Nero for the Ion Force. Something more that needs to be kept in mind, a lot (and I mean a lot) of the feats and showing that occurred in this era was not really something that Kyle has not done before or after Ion event.

Narration speaks of Kyle power. Something that Kyle has yet to realize. But focus more on the Guardians words. He speaks of a coming war (with Imperiex), to keep in mind his limitations, because great change is upon him.
