“Of course I’m not sane. Sanity is simply the denial of chaos! You can’t have multiple temporal existences in a sane universe!” [Spiral, Wolverine (2nd series) #52]
and that, in a nutshell is spiral. least that's the version i prefer. different writers have done some different things with her of course, but the insane spiral is the one that remains most true to the character, imo.
i guess a little info before feats couldn't hurt, since even her origin is a little crazy. this will be paraphrased and simplified. most details sre shown in the longshot mini, but much info has come to light over a series of issues that makes tracking her origin difficult at best.
spiral was originally an earthwoman named ricochet rita. in a scheme to get longshot back to the mojoverse, spiral and mojo kidnapped rita and showed her the "space between space, and the time between time". seeing these things made her crazy. shortly after, longshot saved her and with the help of dr strange, healed her mind. at some point, rita returned to the mojoverse and played a role, along with the x-babies, in mojo's crazy reality tv shows. it wasn't long before mojo turned on rita again, torturing her and driving her insane. this time, not only did he show her "time between time", he also taught her to dance within these times. when he was done, he had arize change her form into spiral.
you can see the paradox of course. it was 'future rita-turned-spiral' who initially kidnapped rita which in turn allowed for the creation of spiral. fitting somehow, imo. there is some question about whether the 616 rita is spiral. however, mojo has stated that his mojoverse is the ONLY mojoverse in the entire multiverse. if this is true, it would allow for paradoxical timetravel with creating divergent timelines.
whatever. spiral WAS created, she is crazy, and that's for the best.
without further ado, a gallery of spiral's more impressive feats. enjoy.
notice 2 different spells cast simultaneously for different effects (freezes psylocke and blows up kurt's remote so he can't bring in any more danger room villains to distract her) even as she sword-strikes the danger room version of sabes:
cool little feat. also shows her ability to create uber tech. mystique and wolverine met at a random site/cheap motel to talk about some weird things that had been happening. they bring up spiral....
as many of the scans have shown, spiral need not 'dance' as many think, to cast her spells. simple hand motions are all she needs for even some of her powerful spells. but she CAN dance and use her magic. here she turns firestar's power back against her:
the dragons were a group of powerful wizards who came to spiral for help. they threatened her and she let them think she did their bidding.... shows how she can easily combine her tech with her magic.
arize is the one who created spiral for mojo. here spiral goes after him, not pleased with what he made of her. also note the different styles of swords here, as opposed to past scenes. she has many swords, and they vary greatly at times from appearance to appearance.
Gender: Male Location: Planning to take over the WORLD!
just to put to rest the idea that spiral has no tp skills. she locates, hits and briefly ko's karma from within the Body Shop. does that make this a display of inter-dimensional tp? a bit unclear. however, a case could be made for it for sure given the nature and usual location of the Body Shop. anyway, when karma wakes up, she has knowledge spiral needed her to have. spiral wasn't out to harm her--just give her info:
spiral is immune to possession, but this is an odd occurence. rogue tries to possess spiral. the result is spiral is in charge, with some odd modifications to rogue's body....
very impressive speed feat--not only does she sense his approach at superspeed, but teleports herself to the exact right place to trip him.... she's got some odd powers, very hard to quantify at times. note the dialogue--she appears from ELSEWHEN in the second scan. note the respect for spiral's power in mystique's voice. in an earlier scan with logan, we know she is actually afraid of spiral's power.
Gender: Male Location: Planning to take over the WORLD!
major ability--she can depower pretty well..... ANYONE. note she depowered the entire combined rosters of east and west coast avengers--powers AND weapons. everyone from ironman's armor, to wonderman's ionic energy to hercules's powers. in order to be sure she doesn't just walk in a depower everyone off the bat, there is a stipulation that the person must be standing still to be depowered. weird, but, meh, be a pretty potent ability if it weren't limited in some way. she even depowered magneto in a different issue. hope i have that scan....
Gender: Male Location: Planning to take over the WORLD!
negates cap marvel's powers (monica rambeau, who possesses enough power that at one time she was able to harm zeus himself). here spiral effortless blocks her attacks before negating her abilities while in mid-battle:
kinda cool--when considering a new sorcerer supreme, her skills were enough to draw the attention of the eye of agomotto--(she's at the bottom-middle of the images):
Gender: Male Location: Planning to take over the WORLD!
no real feat, just mention of the Body Shop. it's her pan-dimensional lab, where all her tech is designed. it seems it changes loacations. here it's situated in the wildways, a weird, magical dimension that spiral can enter and which is outside mojo's influence. but the body shoppe can appear elsewhere as well--like on earth. or at least it can accessed on earth. like spiral herself, the body shoppe is hard to figure exactly. it is also a tesseract--a large space hidden within a small space. crazy, like spiral.
the body shoppe was also the place where spiral granted betsy her bionic eyes. these eyes were like cameras and they let mojo see through them to create a type of reality show through betsy's eyes. maybe i'll grab the scan later or someone else may have it readily available.

Isn't that the one Scoob won with Bigfoot? Did you lose to him or Blair in that tourney (I think they made the finals)? I remember rooting for you because it was Minion's debut and all. Shame, it was a cool amalgam.
