This movie would completely differeniate itself if they had bothered to release the version of the film where the world actually gets destroyed. Sure it does give you a sense of doom, but what doesn't these days. The reason I bring this up is because I had heard rumours of the original ending to the movie, the original ending apparently is featured in the Teaser Trailer that was released prior to the films actual Theatrical release. At least release the movie in 2 versions... one that is typical and the other that is a likely realistic scenario. mad

For me, this movie was overshadowed by Armageddon.

I actually prefer this one to Armageddon. Its not as impossible. Or as lame.

The world gets destroyed?! Is that in the DVD?

I enjoyed Deep Impact. I thought it was a "Thinking mans comet hitting the earth movie".

hmmm deep impact was a better story but armeggedon is " a mindless movie action fest", but hey i still liked it. I like them both. Now i dont think that there is any other year where similiar movies came out and i liked em both.

Lol now if u talk about the volcano yr where " dante's peak" and "volcano " came out i would only choose one...........as the other was pure unadulterated shit.........u guess( or read my info) to know which one i talking bout

People take Armageddon too seriously. It's a mindless but entertaining movie, and that's all it's supposed to be!

I thought that Deep Impact was a better movie and more well written than armageddon, and it was a good movie when I first saw it at the cimema, but then it just seemed to fade away and become rubbish.

Too much treacle in both films. I prefer "Meteor" (1979) with Sean Connery.

I didn't say there was going to be one. I was just posing the question that if the Studio decided to release a special edition. It should include a Director's or SE cut of the movie. All the info about the so called alternative version of the movie can be read at DVDFILE.com in their Cut List. It's all speculation but I am inclined to believe them, the original Teaser Trailer includes scenes not in the Film itself.
