However, I also may nominate Sideways... I think that's the only movie to come out this year that is really up to par with Sunshine. Loved both movies.
I didn't/haven't seen "Sideways" because it looks like a male version of one of those chick flicks where the woman liberates herself and shit. Like "How Stella Got Her Groove Back".
BUT, after seeing whatshisname from "Wings" getting an Oscar nod, it may be worth a look see afterall.
Btw: Isn't it kind of crap that Jamie Foxx got nominated (in real life) for best "supporting" actor when he was the lead role in Collateral? Sounds like a cheap way to try and earn him another Oscar. Hell, the chick in Eternal Sunshine was nominated for a lead role and he gets nominated for supporting? Thats crap.

Oh man, Sideways is a great great movie. One of the most purely entertaining flicks I've seen in a long time. It has some great, loveable, complex characters and combines drama and laugh out loud comedy probably the best I've seen since American Beauty. You should really check it out. Though I do get why you say that about it, it's not sappy like those movies are, it's more or less about a lonely guy and his wacky friend and some adventures they get into.
Plus, as always, Paul Giamatti was ace, I really can't believe he didn't get an oscar nom for his performance.
