Please tell me why we have such a depressing amount of n00bs on this board.I am getting sick beyond belief of everybody on here seeming to really only talk about
TV anime,(Inuyasha,Bebop,Trigun,Wolf's Rain,Yugioh,ECT)
anime thats been in theaters(EX Mononoke Hime,Sen to Chihiro....,Akira,Ghost in the Shell,ECT)
Not that theres anything wrong with those anime, but this is the first anime board i'v ever been on with this issue.Sorry about all my bitchy complaining but I really want to know. This board is in serious need of diversity.
Second question is if I made a thread dedicated to non TV or theater anime/manga,if ANYONE would post in it....
*bows*Sorry again,im aware that I must sound like a total ass.

Probably because this isn't an anime board; it's a movie board that had enough anime fans to warrent the creation of an anime subforum. The really serious anime fans presumably go to boards that are dedicated to anime.

So what would you like us to talk about? If we can't talk about anime that's been shown on TV or in the theatre (In Japan all have in one form or other), what is there left to talk about? You've left us with nothing.
Maybe you should rephrase your statement. Anime that's been shown on American TV and theatres then, and not as popular culture based?
Fine, here's a few:
Grave of the Fireflies.
Galerians.
Macross II the movie.
Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.
M.D. Geist.
Venus Wars.
Spirit Warror.
Shadow Skill.
I think she's complaining about people only talking about anime that's been shown on TV in the US.
But the average anime fan only knows these anime and very little of what's NOT licensed in the US. So it's just something you need to deal with. Frankly it doesn't bother me, since I don't come in here very often.
Not really. The average anime fan is generally well aware of other other things that circulate through America(trust me,I have a Gaia account)

Umm...just because you have a gaia account doesn't mean anything, dear. So do I. And I didn't say they don't know other anime exists, what I meant is that they usually know very little about it.

i think these quotes make perfect sense.
ya know black hat, you do rub off in the wrong way when you talk like this. just because i may not be watching the latest episodes from japan(complete with NO ENGLISH SUBTITLES) doesnt mean i dont know what im talking about(at least half the time :/..lol)
doesnt mean i dont like anime and manga(which continues to confuse me when i read it p:...oh well)
i mean, how else do people actually get interested IN anime and manga?
I mean i'm asking all of you here. i'm sure you all saw a u.s. dub like say dbz(shudder) that got you interested in it. I mean, i had seen some old DB on the international channel when i was 5, but i really got interested when I saw the DUB of macross(i know the dub sucks but bear with me)the more ppl who see a dub, the more likely they are to try and watch some more non syndicated anime.
you always call people anime noobs(i preffer newbs). I like anime and manga. when the Cowboy beebop movie came to a independent theater an hour away, i got a friend, and went and saw it, getting home at 10. when i have spare change, i often will go rent a anime o buy a manga. i dont have very much money. so i cant afford it all.
so when i watch it on tv, even in dub form, i relish it.
Excuse me Chocobo, but did I say *anything*like that...no.I rarly watch anime from Japan myself(manga though...)And to tell you the truth,I think subtitles are *very very*annoying.
I actually got into anime by Bubblegum Crisis 2040,but that dosen't mean that my friends or family didn't get into it be other sources(such as the TV)
There is a point in your life where you have to get more...er...cultured(not a great word for what I mean)But I guess in a nutshell,I think that some of these "n00bsneed to go and see what else is out there. If you have been into anime for at least a year, there no reason whyyou shouldn't have grabbed a manga at Borders and started reading.Thats the difference between noobs and newbies.....NEWBIES ARE ACTUALLY NEWBIES!I have nothing against newbies at all. They saw an anime on CN a few months back and its a cool concept...but if you've been watching anime on TV for 3 years and you are convinced you are some hot shot, and think that Inuyasha is the greatest achievment in animehistory(sorry for the run-on)you've got some serious issues.
Ah,and Ghost in the Shell...I never said there was anything wrong with it did I?Stop taking my words out of conteXXX.Its a brilliant film.

BlackHatDefect, your a cool gal. I agree with you totally how theres a time in everyone's life where you discover new envrioments and challanges to meet. My life ambition is to live in Japan and to set up work as an animation director. I am currently working on my own short anime film which, may sound sad, but will be fun in the long run. Subtitles are the devils wish. Although looking at the original work, if anyone possesses the collectors edition of Akira will see on the original english dubb, the sync was all over the place but its still a lot better than watching suptitles go at 200mp/h. Japanese anime is gods gift to this earth, I don't know what I would do without it

What the heck is a Gaia account? I'm an avid viewer of all sorts of anime and I don't have a Gaia account, whatever that is. Btw, some anime claim to be true reincarnate of anime, but are not. So not all anime-esque like cartoons seen on TV are true anime. The word anime is short for Japanese animation cartoon, however most true hardcore anime fans know the difference between true anime and just Saturday morning anime cartoons. There's a difference.
For example: Ghost In The Shell is anime, InuYasha is a Saturday morning anime cartoon. Both can be seen on TV, but GS is more sophisticated and hardcore, while InuYashu is more low key and deals with multi-casing instead one individual like GS.

yes, I do think Inu-yasha is a funny anime, and a great manga. I also love some of Ms. Rumiko Takahashi's previous work like ranma 1/2. While neither of the 2 forementioned works are "the greatest achivement in anime(or manga) history", their still jolly fine work.
I'm insulted that you think I've been watching anime on tv for 3 years.
I may not like manga(way to confusing)
but I am not an anime newbie. I may be a manga newbie , but not an anime newbie.
Heck, rightn now i'm trying to get a hold of the appleseed movie
I would! I only watch about 3 anime shows on tv....Gundam SEED, Inuyasha (no offence BlackHat) and Wolf's Rain
I almost always buy all my anime...THAT'S WHY IT'S SO HARD TO CHOOSE!

Well i am considered a noob but i watch japanese anime with subtitles. I read all of the manga i can get my hands on. Yet i think Ruroni Kensin is the best anime show ( note that i say show) that i have ever seen
(and just in case your thinking this. I do not know how to spell the name of my favorite show,...sad)

Well I kinda put myself off as a n00b seen as I buy whatever I read is good and I wander into the only decent comic book store in my shady city and pick up a manga if I have the money which I rarely do. The last and only manga I possesed was Rave Master 1. It's ok, nothing special though. Wheres a good place to get cheap anime/manga online?
