I thought Spielberg said he'd never make a sequel to this movie. There's no point anyways, the movie doesn't need one and it's perfect the way it is, the ending is satisfying.

a bad sequal would be better than the original Et.

Wow its great to FINALLY find other people that hated that movie as much as I do.The majority of people I have come across over the years have all said they loved that movie and thought it was like the best movie ever.I cant count how many times over the years that whenever I came across someone who loved that movie and was talking about it,when I voiced how much I hated it,they would say-That really surprises me to hear you say that because your the only one that I have ever heard say that.God,how can so many people love a movie so much thats all about a puppet? jesus. Great to FINALLY see that there are others out there besides me like you guys who hated that movie as much as I did. sick

as far as a sequel goes, they have been talking about that ever since the movie first came out. After all these years later,I seriously doubt they would make a sequel to it especially only just because Barrymore wants to do a sequel to it.

I'm with you parker. Though i dont hate the movie, I dont understand how it gains so much praise amongst film fanatics across the world. I personally thought it was slow, and boring. I would rank ET at the bottom of spielbergs list of greats. I Just dont get how everyone can relate to a baby alien.

Yeah I dont understand how it gets the praise it does either.Yeah thats exactly how I thought it was as well.Slow and boring.Yeah I rate it at the bottom of his lists of greats as well. Not at all a masterpiece like many critics pan it to be like his Indiana Jones films or Schnedlers List ect.The thing that I thought lacked about this movie was it wasnt original like his previous film about aliens was Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Now that one was a good movie of his and thats what bothered me about E.T was his lack of orginality,if Close encounters had been directed by someone else,I would say he ripped off that movie to make E.T. because there are a lot of similarites to those movies. After I saw E.T.I thought whats so great about this movie that everybody keeps saying, its boring as hell? This movie was a complete rip off of close encounters, was what I thought after viewing it for the first time.

They made an ET sequel. It was War of the Worlds. What if ET was one of the evil Aliens attacking the earth. Have you seen it? The ending of both ET and War of the Worlds they were dying.

WTF! Why would anybody want to make a sequel to a movie that is already successful on it's own. It'll probably be another in the long line of unnecessary and retarded sequels for movies in order for the people at Hollywood to make more money.

Eh, if a sequel does happen, I'll be sure to back plenty of rotten tomatoes, sacks of garbage and bags of used cat litter to throw at the screen.

Shame on the ET critics! ET is a FANTASTIC film! Don't know so much if a sequel would work but something tells me Spielberg will do it before he retires.

There is a book sequal though. Isn't there? I'm pretty sure that the next movie would focuss on that. The problem is that Steven doen't usually direct his own sequals, look what happened to the Jurassic park movies.

Yeah, let's keep making superfluous sequels to decades-old movies. How does Cassablanca 2: Sam's Revenge sound?
