 Heart of the Ocean?

What happened to the one used in the movie "Titanic." A friend from school claims her dad was friends with James Cammeron and he gave her the chain that holds the "diamond" but she broke the clasp. I don't believe it, and she insists on it. It's spring break, so I can't ask her to bring it in, but I am really curious if anyone knows where it actually went.
