Justice vs Principles

Not all heroes view the sactity of human life in the same way. For example Superman's and Spiderman's opinions on the use and justification for lethal force and regard for human life is considerably different than Wolverine or Guy Gardner. So with that in mind here are the scenarios.

1. The People vs The Joker: Bruce Wayne sits on a jury that has just convicted the Joker, there is overwhelming evidence and public opinion cries out for the death penalty. Does Bruce stick to his principles and vote life in prison or vote to give the public the justice the demand?

2. The People vs Lex Luthor: Same as 1 except Clark Kent is on the jury.

3. The People vs Victor Creed: Wolverine sits on a jury that has just must decide to convict Creed for a crime he didn't commit. If convicted he will recieve the death penalty. Wolverine knows for a fact that Creed is innocent. Does he vote to convict?, If so does he also vote for the death Penalty?

4. The People vs Wilson Fisk: Same as 3 except Matt Murdock is on the jury.

5. The People vs Eric Lehnsherr: Xavier is on the jury and believes that Eric might be innocent but can't prove it. So he must decide whether or not to use his powers to influence the jury.

Lawful executions by jury don't violate Wayne's sense of justice on any front I know of. Bruce votes for the death penalty.

Has current Luthor actually killed anyone that Clark knows of?
I could see current Clark Kent voting life for Lex as opposed to the death penalty.
Silver Age Clark Kent would have voted for the opposite.
I'm not truly certain what post-Crisis, pre-2011 Superman would do, though, given that he might think he was saving lives if he voted to do away with a mass murderer proven to kill again and again.

Wolverine actually fought to keep Magneto himself OUT of the court system for similar reasons back in X-Men versus Avengers, circa mid 1980s or so. He did that despite Magneto's known past and attempts on the X-Men's lives himself. Wolverine is fairly honorable. Unless he knew with certainty Sabretooth would kill someone he could not himself protect if left unconvicted, I agree: He'd fight for Victor's innocence, then settle things man-to-man at a later date.

Similar result. Matt would work afterwards to convict Kingpin for the crimes he DID commit, though.

If Xavier were at the point of doing that, he'd simply read Magneto's mind and determine his innocence himself.
And would certainly influence the jury to acquit if Magneto was indeed innocent.

Pre reboot Clark wouldn't vote to kill Lex.
