"Dr. Bruce Banner is a genius in nuclear physics, possessing a mind so brilliant that it cannot be measured on any known intelligence test."
I knew Banner was meant to be a genius, but not on such a phenomenal level.
what, has he suddenly become Reed Richards/Doom level?
hmm, I assumed he was more akin to Magneto/Beast/Bruce Wayne...
yeah but ... I knew he was a "genius scientist", just don't remember seeing anything where his intellect was really so pronounced.
of course, in comics, "geniuses" abound and every other "genius" hero invents this that or the other but, Richards was on a level of galactic/universal significance. The Watcher was impressed with him, he's known as "Mr. Fantastic". Doom, his adversary, is equally well endowed and, if anything, even more of a universally significant mind for his ruthless vision and dedication.
Banner never seemed to reach to such epic proportions, he was like a 'white coat in the background', you know... like those 'technicians' in Star City or something ... they're geniuses, always inventing or discovering something that The Flash or Superman or some other hero really needs, but never so very significant that they affect universal matters.
hmm, I want to see more of Banner... maybe if he could take total control of his emotions and learn to manipulate his infinite powers, he really could be the most powerful one there is, rather than simply have Hulk be "the strongest one there is"...
wonder if some alien might decide to swap Doom's persona with Banner's persona... Banner gains Latveria and the Doom bots and tech, Doom gains The Hulk(s) and that universe of power.
I wouldn't say Banner was as intelligent as Reed, just in the same general bracket, his genius is overlooked because he has this habit of turning green and breaking stuff.
But he has always had an off the charts IQ, when he was in the Hulk Busters he invented a lot of their stuff IIRC (it has been a while since I read those issues but he was their main genius)
I would say he is slightly below Reed interlect wise but up there with Stark, Pym etc.
I seem to recall Reed Richards advising Peter Parker to go see Bruce Banner because Bruce knew more about genetic radiation/mutation than Richards did. Pretty impressive, in my opinion.
