champion is not a loser
in his bio it states that the gem weakened his mind, it wants it's wielder to depend on it forever thats why after the ig fiasco he got it back and why he was beyond impressive without it in his first appearance. it's like it's "brother" the soul gem, it has a mind of it's own.
champion was much better off without it.
